My cat's spay incision has a black spot. Is it healing okay?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

My cat had her surgery about a week and a half ago. She’s getting more active during the day, I think she’s tired of the cone. I wanted to submit a pic and ask if this is healing okay. Getting to the vet is tough and I appreciate all feedback. The little black thing has been there since a few days after the surgery, and I’m not sure what it is or if it’s the stitches, or dried blood. Feedback is appreciated :)

The incision looks ok from the picture. I see some dried blood, some crusting probably from a bit of leakage from the wound, but no signs of infection (redness, swelling, pus). Still keep Suki as calm as possible so the incision can continue to heal. I hope this helps.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Minka. Her incision appears a little red, but most of the time that is normal after surgery. Otherwise, it seems ok. Signs of a problem can include pus or discharge coming from the surgical site, the incision opening up or her acting sick. If you notice any of these signs, she will need to see a veterinarian right away. Do not allow her to lick the site as this can lead to problems. I hope this information helps!

All in all, I think that Tokyo's incision looks perfectly normal for being about 10 days post-op. I can see that she's likely been licking the center part a bit more than she should have been since the tissue is still slightly red. However, it's still healing nicely. Since this area is a bit red, I would try to put an e-collar (cone) or baby onesie on Tokyo for the next few days to prevent her from licking at it. The white areas that you're seeing look like normal fibrin-rich tissues, which are normal in the healing process and will fall off shortly. I hope that she continues to heal well!

Hello. While there is a little gaping at the top of the incision in your first picture, there is no swelling, redness or discharge to indicate infection. The sutures should probably stay in for a full 10-14 days, but otherwise everything looks great! Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Female cat was neutered yesterday. Are the stitches fine? (Dissolvable type). Is the ball some kind of glue or something else? When and how can the wound be cleaned safely? One picture from the same day as surgery and two after first night.
Hi. Thank you for using Boop by Petco. From the pictures the incision looks ok; though be sure you are monitoring at home make sure there is no discharge, opening of the incision, swelling, heat or redness at the incision line. Make sure that Yuki isn't licking or chewing at the incision. Do not clean or wipe the incision line as this can irritate it and cause Yuki to try to lick. Do no apply any medications. If you notice any swelling or discharge, please take her back to the veterinarian. Also monitor that she is eating, drinking and urinating/defecating normally. The incision line will take 10-14 days to heal.

The photo didn't come through. A small amount of spotting can be normal and generally the incisions on cats heal quickly even if they open up a little. As long as he's eating and acting normal I'm not overly concerned about this. Keeping the cone on will prevent his licking the area and it will heal more quickly. Should the incision look very red or have a bad odor then I would take him back to have it checked. I expect though that it will improve every day. That looks fine as a healing incision. Continue to keep an eye on it for swelling, reddening, oozing, make sure she doesn't lick it too much and keep her from running and jumping for another week or so to ensure complete healing. After that time she can go back to her normal activities.

Im seeking advice for a spay incision that is worrying me
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I can see the spay tattoo and a very small incision likely healing well as I cannot see any inflammation or discharge indicating an infection. If at some point you notice any fouls smelling discharge, redness or tenderness to the touch, have her evaluated by your veterinarian. Otherwise, her incision is likely to continue to heal. Hello. Cats don’t like to follow the rules sometimes. This incision looks great. The flakiness is just some residue of the skin glue, the green is tattoo ink . There does not appear to be any problems with this incision at all right now. Continue to monitor it and watch specifically for redness, discharge or significant swelling. Amber is 2 months old and got fixed 48 hours ago. this is her incision site and I am really worried. Does this look normal?
It looks quite crusty but the stitches seem holding the margins still in place (one facing the opposite). I would suggest to rest her as much as possible and to put a buster collar on to avoid any licking. If you notice discharge coming from the wound, any sign of pain/discomfort or lethargy or inappetence or you can actually see underlying tissue layers, it would be absolutely best to have her checked by your local veterinarian.
