Puppy hit in eye with ball. Should I take him to emergency vet?

Hi there, We had a little accident yesterday while playing with our puppy with his favourite tennis ball, which bounced back and hit him in his right eye area- he opens it slightly but looks sore. He is eating, drinking, trying to play, barking, but sleeping more and moves slower- should he be taken to emergency or is it just bruise and he should recover himself? Does he need any inflammatory med? We are self isolating at the moment and havent got any chance to take him to vets :(

I do think Rocco should see a vet immediately. The fact that he is sleeping more as well as moving slowly and won't open his eye all the way tells me something is wrong. He's likely in pain. Any eye problem is an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into a vet now. Best of luck.

Yes, I would take Romeo into a vet today if possible. It could be he has an eye infection, or may have injured his eye. Any problem with the eye needs to be checked out promptly, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I hope this helps!

He keeps rubbing his paws on his eyes but one eye his really in bad shape like it not gettin any better im scared we live to far from a vet. So what do i do ???
Oh no, poor Rocco! Eyes are very delicate structures and can be damaged very easily. Excessive itching can quickly worsen an existing issue, such as a corneal ulcer, and can even lead to eye rupture in severe cases. Unfortunately, the only thing that you can do at home is make sure that Rocco is wearing an e-collar (cone) so that he does not damage his eye further. A vet will need to examine Rocco to determine the cause of his eye issue so that he can be appropriately treated. I hope that he feels betters soon!

My dog got hit in eye with a nurff bullut by my bf what can u do as he will not open it and his pink eye is over his eye
I would take Scruff into a vet now. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. It's clearly hurting him if he won't open his eye, so please have him see a vet right away. Best of luck.

Hi so I noticed this on about Thursday and it looks to be the same no changes since then. Please tell me what this could be and how long it should take to go away. When should I go to the vet with this? Thank You
It can be very difficult to evaluate an eye based on a photo but it appears that there is a puncture or ulceration of the cornea in the corner of Rocky's eye. I would recommend taking him in to the vet as soon as possible. The vet will examine the eye, may want to put a special stain on the eye to check the rest of the cornea, may want to test the eye pressure, and can prescribe antibiotics and pain medication if needed. I would not delay taking him in because the eye can worsen quite quickly.

Cloudy eyes should always constitute an emergency vet visit. Since you know there is possible trauma, there could be an abrasion or corneal ulcer, something stuck under an eyelid, a hole in the cornea, or severe inflammation. There are several eye tests the vet may recommend after examining the eye to determine the most appropriate treatment.

This is a medical emergency, and Blu has to see a vet now. His eye could have been severely injured, and leaving this untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Poor Rocco! It sounds like he really needs veterinary attention, and unfortunately there is nothing that I could recommend you try at home. If he has been vomiting he could be dehydrated and his blood sugar could be low. I would recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian as soon as possible since it sounds like Rocco is in critical condition.

Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! Thank you for the pictures as well- poor little Rudy! Yes, you will need to take Rudy into see his veterinarian. Rudy is squinting and seems reluctant to open his right eye. He may have endured trauma or injury to his eye which may have resulted in a corneal abrasion or scratch which are quite painful and need special treatments in order to heal properly. Your veterinarian will examine the eye and will stain the eye to check for corneal injury. Rudy may need to go home with antibiotic eye medications or other medications as needed. Eye injuries are considered emergencies. I suggest you get Leo to a vet for an examination as soon as possible. The longer you wait to seek treatment, the more likely he is to have permanent damage and/or lose vision. I would get him to a vet ASAP. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
