My kitten has black marks on his foot after ringworm. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 1 month and 24 days old

My 9 week old kitten was a rescue and is on day 15 of his ringworm treatment (he received the treatement due to his sister having ringworm) about 3 weeks ago he pulled all the fur off the back heel of his foot and it the foot pink and raw..finally the fur started growing back but as of this week I've noticed these black marks on the skin of his foot. Can you advise if it is a dermatitis and if I should use fucicort cream on the area?

This may be normal. After ringworm has healed, the animal may have a dark mark left where the rash was. This is called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, but I can't be sure without seeing Apollo in person. In the picture, it almost looks like scabs. I would have it checked out by his vet to be safe. I hope this helps.
