My indoor cat has a red irritated spot above her eye. Should I worry?

Should I be worried about this red irritated spot above my cats eye? It isn't bleeding or scabbed. She's 100% inside only, no other pets, no food changes or other changes.

It doesn't look too bad in the picture. Poppy may have injured herself by rubbing her face against something in the home. I would keep an eye on it for now. if it gets bigger or appears infected (redness, swelling, warm to the touch, pus), then have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Keep an eye on it and if it does not look better by tomorrow, or if he starts to scratch at it or rub his face, then get him seen by your vet as soon as possible. The worry is that if he starts rubbing or scratching, that he'll injure the eye itself and that will require more intensive treatment than a simple scratch or mild eye infection.

It think is a bug is pretty unlikely. I can't think of any that are that aggressive! It could be from her scratching herself. If she is not on a good-quality flea prevention, that may be the solution. Fleas are a common problem, even for indoor-exclusive kitties. Other causes of itching include allergies, infection, mites, etc. If you see Sugar itching, it may be best to having her examined by a vet.

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Moka. It looks like she may have an injury above that eye. Gently clean it with warm water, and monitor it. If it looks infected, or she rubs at it, you see redness in the eye, or eye discharge, then I would take her into a vet. I hope this helps!

Hello, Last night I noticed a patch of raw skin above my cats eye. My vet cannot see her for two weeks so I am checking to see how urgent it is that she sees a vet. If it's an infection, I don't want to see her get worse in those two weeks.
Thank you for providing images. The area does not look severe enough to arrant an immediate visit. Keep the spot clean and dry. You can place an e-collar (cone) on Lavender to prevent rubbing or pawing. Monitor for increasing redness or hair loss, bleeding, discharge or lethargy. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian sooner rather than later.

Poor Poppy! I don't see any signs of infection from the picture, but without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I'd have her checked out by a vet to be safe, especially since she is drinking less and staying more indoors.

It is hard to say exactly what the red spot on Artemis's back may be without examining Artemis first, but I can offer some insights. It could be a fungal infection, a cyst or small tumor, flea allergy, or other environmental allergy, Your veterinarian can diagnose these potential conditions with an exam and a few simple skin tests. Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. It could be a scratch (or other form of trauma) to the eyelids. If it is not bothering Fergie and she is acting as normal, you should monitor her at home for now. However, if she scratches the area excessively or the eyelids become swollen or painful, you should take your cat to your local vets for an appointment.

Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet immediately because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd have her seen by a vet now. I hope this helps!

My cat's eye is very red just at the corner of the eye/tear duct area. I am wondering if this requires a visit or if I can do some home remedies? I don't know how to proceed.
It looks as if Pip may just scratched the corner of his eye, most likely with his paw, and it now has a small abrasion. I think it is ok to just watch it for now. Please look at the photo attached, can you tell what this is on my cats head. Is it something I need to be concerned about and take her to the vet? She is still eating, drinking and purring, still her usual self.
It looks like they may be healing scratches from another pet or from trying to squeeze through somewhere. If she has itchy skin she could have inflicted this trauma on herself. If she seems otherwise normal, I suggest keeping an eye on it and make sure it is healing. If swelling begins, or if the wounds start oozing blood or pus, get her in to be seen by your vet right away. The wounds could seal over, trapping bacteria inside and form an abscess. This is messy and painful and is best taken care of by your vet.
