Are essential oil diffusers safe for my hamster? What are the signs?

I've really been wanting to diffuse with lavender, and calming essential oils like that but I have a hamster. I have been doing some research and some say its fine and others say its not. If I use the diffuser, how would I be able to tell if my syrian hamster is bothered by it? Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Female

I recommend not using one, as hamsters can be sensitive to essential oils. You can see eye and nasal discharge, lethargy, and a loss of appetite. It's better to avoid it for Peaches' sake. I hope this helps!
