Why does my senior cat have scabs on his stomach and what can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 15 years and 8 months old

Cats stomach is scabby. He is 15, quite stiff and unable to jump anymore. He is in good health otherwise, spends lots of time sleeping but still goes outside. He receives regular flea treatment. I want to know what I can do to help him. Many thanks.

The scabs on his belly look like they could be caused by infection or allergy. I would have Jaffa seen by a veterinarian who may prescribe antibiotics or anti-allergy medication. You can also try medicated sprays, wipes, or shampoos to see if those help. Omega 3 oil's support good skin health and you may consider adding them to his food.
