Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 9 months and 6 days old | 66 lbs
Hi, My Golden went into heat earlier than her spaying appointment. She was about 3 days into her first heat cycle when she had the surgery. After the surgery, I let her have a little bit of water but she vomited that and yellow liquid up. She also has mucus-like diarrhea. It’s day two and she held down some water but her appetite and activity level still hasn’t returned.. should I be worried?

I would call your vet tomorrow and let them know what's going on. She should be kept quiet for 10-14 days after the surgery and the diarrhea could be due to her lack of appetite, but to be safe I would keep your vet informed. She should be eating some by now. To entice her to eat you can wet dry food with some low sodium chicken broth and warm it in the microwave, just be careful to make sure it isn't too hot, like you would for a baby or small child. Give her small meals and if she vomits again, get her seen by a vet.
