Is it possible to insert a catheter subcutaneously to administer lactated ringer‘s twice a week so that I don’t have to insert a new needle twice a week to deliver them. My Pugapoo is 12 years old, blind, and diabetic. I know how to insert a needle but, it’s difficult and heart-wrenching. And, I can’t afford to continuously take him to a vet for such a minor activity. Years ago I myself had to have a port inserted for intravenous administration of antibiotics. He’s indoors and pretty sedentary.

Unfortunately no, it's not possible. It won't stay in place and catheters are not recommended for long term use. I know it's difficult to insert a needle twice a week for AJ but that is the only option if you can't afford the vet to do it. I'm sorry.
