Why does my dog have gum bumps, shifting teeth, and lick his lips?

Hello, my dog's teeth have started shifting and I've noticed these bumps on his gums. They don't seem to bother him as he's still eating and drinking but I've also noticed excessive licking of his lips. I am taking him to the vet but would like to get some feedback on what these bumps could be so that I can do some research beforehand. Thanks in advance!

These bumps could be epulis. It's a benign lump that commonly grows between the canine or incisor teeth, and are the same color as the gum. They are also typically smooth in appearance. Without seeing Otis in person, I can't say for certain but that would be my best guess. Definitely have him checked out by a vet. I hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for your post! While it is difficult to say what is wrong without pictures and seeing these bumps in person, there are several possibilities. I see that we do not have an age on Oscar. If he is young, it is possible that he has developed these small bumps due to exposure to the Papilloma virus causing benign growths. These will typically self resolve. The other possibility is that they are sores from chewing on something chronically. If Oscar drools quite a bit, then this could potentially cause irritation to the lower lip and lead to the development of these bumps...similar to acne. If Oscar is a young dog, I would suggest seeing your veterinarian in regards to these bumps to figure out what they are and receive the most appropriate course of treatment. Dogs can get multiple oral tumors and they can also have a condition called ginigival hyperplasia. With your pup, it looks like the mass is starting to overgrow on the tooth. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian. If the doctor thinks this is gingival hyperplasia, there is a procedure to remove the excess gum tissue. Small bumps along upper gun line. What could this be?
From your picture it looks like Cooper could have something irritating or rubbing his lip in this area - sometimes it is something he may ha e chewed on or it may be a tooth that is rubbing against the lip. If it seems painful it may be a reaction to some kind of caustic substance. I would recommend having your veterinarian examine his mouth in person to determine for certain what these bumps might be.

I noticed this bump on the gums of my dog's canine tooth, what could it be?
This is a condition called gingival hyperplasia which is just extra gum growth. At your pets next dental cleaning have the vet take a closer look underneath the excess gum. If the gum needs to be shaved away, then the vet can do that at the time of the cleaning to help prevent an accumulation of tartar underneath. Best of luck with your pet moving forward. Take care.

My 11 year old beagle has a pink "bump" below her tooth. Doesn't seem to bother her eating food or treats. Had one removed, tested not cancer. Not sure how to treat.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I think you are talking about something called gingival hyperplasia. If it looks very similar to the one that was removed and tested, it’s probably the same thing. (Though we can never guarantee as some kids of cancer can look similar.) Usually there is nothing to do treatment or prevention-wise except remove them at routine dental cleaning. And I do recommend routine dental cleaning as tartar can build up dramatically under that gum tissue. Best of luck to you and Lilly!

The thickening of her gum on the top lip is a granuloma or inflammatory response to any type of stimulus, including constant contact with a dog toy, dental disease, or rubbing on a tooth. I wouldn't expect a ball to cause this particular presentation, as this is only in 1 area that happens to overlay with the canine tooth. I would be more inclined to think that the tooth and dental tartar build-up are the likely causes for this granuloma. I would recommend a dental cleaning for Precious, which can then allow the vet to do a full oral assessment to ensure there is no more abnormal tissue there and to collect samples of the tissue if indicated. In the meantime, I would suggest using a water additive or brushing her teeth 3 times a week to reduce any additional tartar development and help cleanse her mouth from bacteria accumulation due to her dental disease. Missing front top teeth. Just large clump of tissue. Please help. This dog is my life. She rescued me following the death of my Son.
That lump of tissue needs to be checked out by the veterinarian. Dogs do get tumors in the mouth. They can also get severe dental infections which can lead to hyperplasia of the gum tissue. The doctor may need to sedate Bumbie to get a thorough exam and a tissue sample of the lump to determine if this is a tumor or something else. Once the doctor examines Bumbie, they will discuss what the best course of action is. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hello, my 2 year old corgi has a lump on his gums. It is smooth in texture and about the size of a tylenol capsule.
One of the most common masses that we see in the mouth is something called an epulis. An epulis is considered a benign mass, but some types will invade the surrounding bone if not removed. I noticed a small hard white bump on Baldrick’s lip. I’m wondering if I should take him in to be seen by a vet or just keep an eye on it for now.
Based on the appearance of this lesion and Baldrick's young age, I would guess that it's most likely either an epulis (https://www.petcoach.co/article/epulis-a-common-oral-tumor/) or an oral papilloma. The challenge with any lump or bump is that the only surefire way to diagnose the issue is with a biopsy. Both of these lesions are benign, but oral papillomas are contagious to other dog due to their viral origin and epulides can grow significantly if left in place. While this issue certainly isn't an emergency by any stretch of the imagination, I still think it's worth taking Baldrick to his vet in the coming weeks to have it checked out. I hope that everything goes well!

I think my dog might have a tumour on his gums. No tartar build up or lump a month ago. Just noticed yesterday. He is not chewing near it now
This called epulid and it is usually a benign form of tumor that would require removal in case it get chewed or infected. To confirm it 100% a biopsy or (complete removal) can be performed.
