My dog ate oyster shells and is vomiting. Is it an urgent vet visit?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 4 years and 10 months old | 90 lbs

Hi, my dog (4 year old German shepherd) ate some oyster shell pieces during an oyster roast tonight. I tried to keep her away from them but apparently failed... she just threw up lots of bile/water and oyster bits. She seems pretty tired (but it’s also 1 Am and I’m keeping her awake with scratches) and she keeps making these very sharp occasional exhales through her mouth. She will do several in a row. I have never heard her make this noise before. It doesn’t really sound like retching to me.

Poor Zee Zee. It's clear the oyster shell pieces have upset her stomach, causing the vomiting. The issue her is that these can cause a blockage. The best thing to do is take her into a vet immediately to get her checked out, as I can't say if she will be ok or not. A blockage is fatal without treatment. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.
