My cat threw up dry food and now has liquid poop. What should I feed?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 years and 3 months old | 12 lbs

Beanz was eating dry food until the other day when he vomited it back out. We then switched to wet food & today I checked his liter box & this liquid poop was there. What should I feed him? Why is this happening?

Vomiting and diarrhea are both signs that Beanz is sick, and he may have a stomach illness causing these symptoms. Whenever a cat is having both diarrhea as well as vomiting, it's time to see the vet to get this diagnosed and treated. I recommend taking him into his vet in the morning. Tonight, feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) to see if that helps him. Best of luck.

It could be Beanz had diarrhea and couldn't control his bowels. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. My cat has diarrhea and she's vomiting but just twice and she eats plants when I give her food she eats just a little bit she plays normally but poops a lot what do I have to do?
You can try feeding your cat a bland diet of boiled chicken, scrambled eggs, or low-fat cottage cheese. If the vomiting and diarrhea continues I recommend taking your cat to see a veterinarian. They may have something going on such as gastroenteritis, kidney disease, or hyperthyroidism.

We've recently taken on a cat, approx 9mo. He vomited x3 yesterday and x1 so far today. Several hours after eating. Some visible bits of dry food in vomit. He's underweight. He had a traumatic day before he came to us so I'm not keen to inflict stres
The vomiting could be caused by stress, diet change, infection, parasite, etc. You could take a fecal sample to a vet for testing to make sure he doesn't have a parasite. You could also feed him a bland gastrointestinal or sensitive stomach diet and see if that helps. Otherwise, he needs to be examined and treated by a vet. He may need an anti-nausea medications and a gastrointestinal protectant to help. Hope he feels better soon!

It sounds as Snow is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

My 3 year old male has been on Halo dry cat food with some wet food up until 2 months ago. He started vomiting his dry (only dry) out of nowhere. Could only keep down wet food. I took him to the vet, exam/labs are good. He has been on wet since Nutro
In an otherwise healthy cat that has chronic vomiting episodes, it sounds like Rigby may have a condition called inflammatory bowel disease. This is common in cats and is difficult to diagnose (requires an intestinal biopsy). I would ask the vet to consider this diagnosis and then they can prescribe the correct treatment for it to try and see if he has some improvement with his vomiting. Treatment usually involves a highly digestible prescription diet (or comparable over the counter diet such as California Natural by Natura) and steroids. I have a male neutered house cat that is about 5 years old. i found a kitten last week and brought him in. the older cat ate some of the kitten food (canned) and I made sure he no longer has access to it. Yesterday he didn't eat as usual and vomit

Yes I suspect it's the kitten food causing Buddy to have an upset stomach and vomit. Sudden changes in diet can lead to these symptoms. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) in small amounts a couple times a day for a few days, the start slowly adding in his normal diet. If he refuses to eat the bland diet, vomits the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, continues to have diarrhea, has blood in his stool, and/or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet immediately. If this continues, I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear about Simon. It's hard to say if you should be worried at this point but if the vomiting continues you will have to get him evaluated. Any sign of illness in a pet that persists or worsens needs to be evaluated by your veterinarian and re evaluated until the problem is resolved. Vomiting causes fluid loss and electrolyte loss and can lead to dehydration and weakness. Not sure if Simon is an indoor/outdoor cat but I would advise deworming him since intestinal worms are so prevalent. That is an easy thing to do to rule out intestinal parasites and should be done in all cases of gastrointestinal upset as long as the medication can be safely given and it is not vomited back up. Intestinal parasites are extremely common across the globe and account for the vast majority of vomiting and diarrhea cases. Other causes include inflammation, infection, dietary problems (including dietary indiscretion or eating things pets are not supposed

These signs could be compatible with an inflammation infection of the gastrointestinal system and surrounding organs (like pancreas and liver). As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitely recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist in the next 12 hours or you notice lethargy or inappetence. What should I do to help my cat? He has all of a sudden started to have diarrhea and vomiting as well

Vomiting and diarrhea can occur secondary to conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, parasites, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Kalvin evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least they can start him on medications to make him feel better and check his hydration status. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration.
