Why is my puppy's stomach firm after eating and playing? Is it bloat?

I’m afraid my puppy might be bloated. 11 week old corgi that ate a lot and played a ton with a bigger dog in the evening which meant a lot of rolling around and running around. He drinks. Went pea. Seems fine. But his stomach is large and fairly firm.

Because Scuttle ate a big meal, that's probably why his stomach is large and firm. If he was truly bloated, you would see pacing, restlessness, anxiety, excessive drooling, and trying to vomit but being unable to vomit. Since you are seeing those signs, I don't think he's bloated. Cass did eat a lot of food, so that can make her stomach look big. Keep a close eye on her, and rest her. No running, jumping, or playing. Do not take her for walk for at least two hours after this meal. If you see her stomach get larger, trying to vomit but can't, pacing, restless, anxiety, or excessive drooling, then those are signs of bloat and you have to take her into a vet immediately. How do I know if my dog has over eaten or is experiencing bloat?
A bloat is a distended, firm abdomen. They can be very uncomfortable and restless and pant a lot. They may cry and get up and down. If he is unable to rest then you may need to see a vet to get him some relief until it all passes. If he is able to rest then it is best to take the food and water away and let him digest what he has eaten and only introduce small meals at a time for the next 24-48 hours

My dog was stretching her hind legs two days ago and her stomach feels a bit harder and seems bigger im afraid she might have bloating , is it possible?
If Faithlynn had bloat, you would not only see an enlarged belly, but you would also see pacing, restlessness, anxiety, excessive drooling, and trying to vomit but cannot. A bigger belly only simply could be due to a big meal.

Why is my puppy's stomach bloated immediately after drinking a small amount?
8 week old puppies, even large breed ones, have pretty tiny stomachs, and they also have poor abdominal musculature development at this stage. Those 2 factors can cause you to really be able to see their abdomen bulging when the stomach is full or water or food. So that might be one reason you're seeing this. The other reason could be that Mishka has intestinal parasites. They are very common in young puppies, so if she hasn't been dewormed, this should be done, at least twice (3 - 4 weeks apart). It's also a good idea to have your vet check a stool sample. You can buy dewormer over the counter in most pet stores; follow the directions on the package.

I would recommend to monitor him for the next 8-12hours. For the moment, considering the signs you are describing, the stomach is dilated but bloat is not happening. If the signs persist more than 12 hours a check up is needed otherwise just withhold food for 12 hours. Let him drink but not excessively as it could cause more vomiting.

The most common signs of bloat are retching without bringing up any material and restlessness. Bloat is a broad term for both a simple gas or food distension of the stomach or a GDV (gastric dilation volvulus) where the stomach gets filled with air and twists on itself so that the stomach contents cannot be emptied. I highly doubt that your 6 week old puppy is experiencing a bloat at such a young age. More common causes of a round and more firm abdomen include a parasite infestation or simply a full stomach after eating. Drinking excessive amounts of water can indicate urinary tract diseases (infection, crystals, etc.), or could be a variation of normal as she is growing. If she also begins urinating large volumes frequently or you observe any blood in her urine, take her to the vet for an exam and urinalysis. If your puppy is lethargic or trying to vomit or retch, certainly speak with her vet immediately. Otherwise, determine how much food she should be eating by examining the char

My puppy has a really big stomach she eats but not that much for her to have such a big stomach is that something I should be worried about? And also after I feed her, her stomach gets as hard as a rock is that normal?
If she is acting normal otherwise than it might just be that her stomach is full from the feeding. She could also have a parasite causing her stomach to be enlarged. Have a vet take a look at her to determine if she needs treatment. She may need to be dewormed with a broad spectrum dewormer.

My dog is usually a pretty good sleeper and snuggler.... but tonight she hasn't been wanting to be touched. I fed her a bigger dinner and her stomach looks enlarged. She can't get comfy and I'm worried about Bloat
Poor pup! If your dog had bloat, she would also show signs as restlessness, pacing, glancing at her stomach, excessive drooling, a tight or swollen stomach, abdominal pain, and unproductive vomiting (trying to vomit with nothing coming up). If you are concerned she has bloat, then by all means take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now. In my opinion, it's was best to be safe than sorry, and since I can't see her in person, I will always recommend airing on the side of caution. Otherwise, you can monitor her for now. If she does show any of the additional signs of bloat, then rush her into a vet right away. I hope this helps!

Awww, she’s a cutie!! If she’s still acting normally... seems comfortable, is energetic and ready to play if prompted, and hasn’t seemed nauseated or like she’s trying to vomit, I would just give her some time. She may have eaten really quickly and have some gas buildup or something of that nature. If she starts retching like she wants to vomit, or if she seems very dumpy and lethargic, take her to the vet. You can check her heart rate as well. Her heart rate at rest should not be faster than 130 beats per minute. If it is faster than that when she seems calm, take her in. Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. Enlarged, hard belly often results from eating too much and too quickly. In this case, the belly all of the sudden gets big, about 20-40 minutes after eating. As long as your Ziggy is comfortable, not crying and his energy level is normal you just need to monitor him at home. The mild bloat should get better in 4-6 hrs time. Chronic abdominal distention in puppies in most cases is related to gastrointestinal worms. If Ziggy has not been de-wormed yet, please do it as soon as possible. You can buy worming medications at the vets but also in pet shops and online - you can get them over-the-counter.
