Dog poop: jelly with blood, acts normal. Is it the jerky treat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Female | spayed | 2 years and 6 months old | 60 lbs

Hello. My dog just pooped and it was jelly/jam consistency with a bit of blood. She is acting completely normal. She was running and playing as well. Eating and drinking like normal. Her food hasn’t changed. I did give her a chicken jerky strip yesterday evening and this morning. It is a new bag but she has had them several times before. Should I be concerned?

The chicken jerky strip could be the cause of the poop with some blood in it. It's a new bag, it may be a new formula. I can give you a home remedy for Birdie to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the the blood in her poop continues on the bland diet, she develops diarrhea, she refuses to eat the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!
