Why is my dog's nose bleeding and pussing for a month, not healing?

Hi- Chai has had lesions on her nose which puss/ bleed for about a month. They are not improving. Her appetite has remained healthy and she is still active and playful.

It could be Chai has an infection on her nose if there is pus. Given that it's been there for a month, this really should be seen by a vet asap to get it diagnosed and treated. I would take her into a vet today. She is beautiful!

This looks like a mass that appears to get infected on and off. I recommend you have your veterinarian examine this mass. Your vet may want to remove it permanently so it cannot get infected any more and ooze pus and blood or at least take a tissue sample from it to determine whether it is a malignant or benign growth.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! it is not possible for us to diagnose exactly what is going on just based on this description though this may be due to an abscess or infection for example in which case antibiotics would be indicated. This may also be a traumatic injury. I would highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to diagnose it so that therapy can be started. Best of luck!

Poor Daisy! She is an older girl, and unfortunately this sneezing with blood in her snot could be due to a malignant growth (cancer) in her nasal cavity. It could also be due to a foreign body, fungal infection, or respiratory infection. Because this has been ongoing for a while, it's best that Daisy is seen by a vet either today or tomorrow. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, x-rays, and may look up her nasal cavity with an endoscope to diagnose what is causing her symptoms. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you.

Poor Belle. This could be a bacterial infection, fungal infection, or even a type of skin mite. Especially since it is getting worse, I would have your vet take a look at it. Your vet will be able to determine what has caused the infection and the best treatment plan to make it better. She is likely going to need some oral medication to help it heal. I hope this helps!

HI, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Cherry! It sounds like she has an upper respiratory infection. The blood may be from inflammation in her sinuses. Other causes for a congested, bloody nose are: foreign body, fungal infections, tumors or clotting disorders. Cheery may not be eating because she can't smell the food well. I recommend taking her to the Vet again. They may want to run blood work to check her white blood cell count and platelets. They may prescribe an antibiotic and an antihistamine. Good luck!

Hello, sorry to hear about Cassie. I would recommend having her evaluated by her veterinarian as the bloody discharge is not typical of a common upper respiratory tract infection. Given her age, one potential cause could include something such as a tumor at the back of her nose. Alternatively, this could be something benign such as allergies and inflammation. If so, she may require both allergy medications and antibiotics. In the interim, you can put a cold pack over her nose if she ever does develop another bloody nose. Hope this helps and best of luck.

When it is one nostril then it narrows the causes down to a few possibilities. It is very possible that there could be an object up in the nasal cavity causing these signs. The other concern would be a nasal tumor. Nasal tumors can be hard to diagnose without a CT scan. I will usually do an anesthetized nasal flush to see if it helps. If not then I will usually refer to a specialist for a possible CT. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pretty Girl. She could have sustained a wound to her nose. In this case, it should heal within several days. If it is not healing, then it may indicate a growth on her nose or the beginnings of an autoimmune skin disease. She would need to see her veterinarian to differentiate between these two causes. What could cause a chihuahuas nose to bleed?
Trauma, tumor, infection or even clotting dysfunction can all cause a nosebleed. Ideally, Gus should be physically examined by a veterinarian to diagnose and treat the underlying cause. This may require specialized diagnostics/blood tests. Gentle pressure may stop minor bleeding, but if not then a visit to the nearest veterinary ER may be needed.

I am concerned about the sore on my dogs nose.
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chloe. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian as she appears to have a mass on her nose. She will likely need a procedure known as a fine needle aspirate to diagnose the mass. There is a benign growth known as a histiocytoma that is common in young dogs. Unfortunately, it has the same outward appearance as a cancerous growth called a mast cell tumor. The sooner a diagnosis is made, then a treatment plan can be formulated.
