My dog has bloody diarrhea & lethargy after prednisone. Pancreatitis?

my dog was recently treated for pancreatitis with anabiotic's and cerenia. two weeks later on a follow up test showed the pancreatitis was gone two days ago he was put on prednisone for inflammation and now has been having diarrhea with blood in it can I be the prednisone causing it or the pancreatitis flaring up again before the prednisone he was eating and stooling normally, now he does not want to eat, is lethargic and having the diarrhea. what should I do? Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) | Male | neutered | 5 years and 6 months old | 17 lbs

It could be either. To start, I would call your vet now about stopping the Prednisone. Some dogs can be sensitive to the steroids and it could be causing damage to the stomach/intestines. I would recommend taking Puppy to the vet for evaluation if the diarrhea last longer than 24 hours, or sooner if there is vomiting or lethargy. Other causes of bloody diarrhea could include bacterial or viral infection, HGE, IBD, intestinal parasites, among others.
