My dog has hives, is throwing up, and seems distressed. What to do?

My dog is breaking out in hives. He hasn't been outside much today except potty breaks and a short run. No human food either. He's very whiney, he also has thrown up a few times.

That's not good. I wonder if Spot is suffering from a contact allergy causing his hives. Vomiting can also be a sign of an allergic reaction. I'm concerned about him and think it's best he sees a vet immediately. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. I would take Harley into a vet immediately. It is concerning that she has been vomiting and having diarrhea, and that the Benadryl isn't helping her hives. Hives are typically caused by allergic reactions, and they can progress to swelling and difficulties breathing. Oftentimes dogs need stronger medications to stop an allergic reaction, such as steroids. Only a vet can give her the correct medicine for her symptoms. My dog ate a bee about two hours ago. She has thrown up 5 times or so already. Should I be concerned?
On no, poor Nymeria. Some dogs are allergic to bees, and a sign of an allergic reaction is vomiting. I would be concerned since she has vomited five times in two hours, and I think seeing a vet is best for her now. Our 1 year old boxer has hives. Not sure from what. He ate and is drinking water, does not appear to be in pain. What could it be and how can we treat? Should we take to an urgent after hours clinic?
It does look like a bad case of hives. The problem with allergic reactions is that they often get worse, and can lead to breathing difficulties. Due to this, I would take Bruno into an urgent after hours clinic now.

Poor thing! If it came on suddenly, i would be concerned about an allergic reaction to an insect bite or something. Without immediate treatment it will get worse. There are alot of causes of vomiting, but if it was acute, as in possibly after going outside, allergic reaction is possible. I would take her tonthe nearest ER. If it isn't an allergic reaction, they can then treat her symptomatically until your veterinarian can see her tomorrow. If you coose, they can also do a.work up at ER with labwork and xrays if you choose as well.

I have a bull mastiff mix that I think that has hives. She has raised spots all over from her front legs back. She is not acting herself. What should I do.
I would take Midnight into the vet now. It sounds like she is having an allergic reaction, and she will need medication to treat it, such as anti-histamines or steroids. The vet can confirm she does have an allergic reaction, and can treat appropriately.

My 14 year old boxer has recently had noticeable rumblings in her abdomen. This has fluctuated for two weeks, still has appetite. Today she is uncomfortable and seems to have hives. You can feel the sweeping and see them thru her coat.
These do look like hives, which are usually a sign of an allergic reaction. An allergic reaction can occur secondary to a number of different triggers and often the inciting cause is never identified. Allergic reactions are considered an emergency and require prompt treatment with antihistamines and often corticosteroids, so I would recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian. I am not sure how to link that with the recent noises in Lilly's stomach and the two problems may not be related.

My dog has been itching for a couple days on and off. But today I noticed the itching getting worse and she now looks like she's breaking out in hives mostly on her head, face, and legs.But I'm not sure thats what they are .So I gave her a bath then
I would recommend taking Piper to the vet. If she is vomiting and has hives then she could be having a significant allergic reaction. She may require steroids or injectable antihistamines or other medication. Good luck and I hope piper is better soon.

My dog is vomiting and has redness on his skin and his eyes is not good
This is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment (advocate or advantage), then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). Regarding the vomiting, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the norm

They may resolve on their own in a few hours. If Blue is itchy, contact your veterinarian and discuss antihistamine use. If they worsen or spread or if he develops difficulty breathing, take him to the nearest veterinary ER. Legally, we are prohibited from recommending doses for medications, even OTC medications, in the absence of a physical exam and a VPCR ( veterinarian-patient-client relationship).
