My dog has red boil-like spots on paws for 5 days. Is it urgent?

Hi! Red boil like spots showed up on my dog's paws last week and has been there for about 5 days. My regular vet is closed but i wanted to get an opinion on whether this is super urgent or if i could wait. His annual check up will be in about 2 weeks.

Thank you for providing pictures of Khenti's paw, it's very helpful. Yes, I see what you mean about the spots on his paws, and given how long they have been there and what they look like, I do not think this can wait two weeks until his annual appointment. I would see if you can get him into another vet in town or you may have to take him into an ER vet to get him seen sooner. I hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco. Poor Skye. Its hard to make the area out on the photo, but I don't think you need to rush to an emergency hospital. I'd call your vet and set up an appointment when you are able to get her in. They can shave and clean the area and dispense antibiotics, topical medications and pain meds. Good luck!

This could be a growth, from an injury, an infection, or a foreign body. This is definitely something that needs to be checked out by a vet, so I'd have Max seen by one in the next few days. Best of luck.

This could just be an allergic condition, but looking at the spotty nature of the pads, I would also be concerned that this might be an auto-immune condition called pemphigus, where the lesions are often first noticed on the footpads. Since this has been ongoing for several months, & now she is showing signs of pain, it is time to have your veterinarian evaluate the pads for what is going on. Hope all is well. Take care.

It is concerning that these boils are not going away, and it's time to see a vet for them. I would not apply anymore pressure to them, and keep Nelly from licking them. Take her into the vet first thing Monday so the cause of the boils can be diagnosed and treated.

Hi. That looks like a mass on that foot. It could be benign, or malignant. It is hard to tell from this picture. It could even be something as simple as mole/wart like mass. The way to know would be to have him examined by your veterinarian and have the perform a cytology. A cytology is looking at the cells of these masses at the microscopic appearance of cells, studying them especially for the diagnosis of abnormalities and malignancies. Good luck.

My Lucy has two dark spots on her back left paw, on top
These look like possible masses or old lick granulomas. Lick granulomas are from chronic licking. If she is currently licking it, you can try Benadryl twice a day and a cone collar to prevent this. The bump may never go away but if you can break the habit of her licking, it could help prevent it from becoming bigger, ulcerated, and infected. See the link below for Benadryl dosing. If these spots are brand new and she isn’t licking them or if they are painful and she is obsessed with them, I would have your vet take a look at them. Your vet will be able to aspirate them and look for suspicious cells under the microscope. Hi I noticed today that my puppy has odd looking spots on his paw pads. I have attached some pictures to help show what it looks like I washed his paws in warm oatmeal soap and it appeared that some of the spots came off and left white looking spots
Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I am not sure what those lesions could be from just based on the photo. Dog foot pads can become cracked and dry from exposure to the elements and an develop white rough spots on their paws from running or walking on rough surfaces such as concrete, rocks or sand. I don't think I would be concerned necessarily but I do think you should take him to your vet and have them check these lesions out in person. I definitely don't think it is an emergency but try to get him seen in the next few days. In the meantime, I would do nothing so the vet can see what they look like without any intervention. If it doesn't seem to be bothering him then you could soak his paw in a warm Epsom salt solution for 5 minutes twice a day and monitor. If the lesion persists or becomes worse, then he should be examined and treated by your vet. He may need an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory to treat.

Hello there. This is a great question. I don't think this is an emergency situation but I do think it is something you should have checked out soon like in the next week or so. It could be something simple like an infection or a clogged hair follicle (pore) but it could be something more serious like a tumor/mass even at his young age. Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco! Any lumps/bumps that you notice on your dog should be checked out by your vet. Lumps can be any of these things: * abscess (infection) * cyst * cancer (benign or malignant) * wart Unfortunately, there is no way I can tell you what it is with 100% certainty just based on your description or by looking at a photo but if I had to guess, I would say it is a benign histiocytoma. If it is a histiocytoma, it should go away on it's own within a few weeks to a month or so.
