Why is my cat's nose swollen and getting worse? Is it an infection?

Poor Mushu. It does look pretty bad. I'm wondering if he has a fungal or superficial bacterial infection causing the issue on his nose. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. I would have him seen by a vet today. The vet can diagnose it and can treat him. Give his vet a call today. I hope this helps!

It looks like an infection, most probably either fungal or bacterial. you should take Zeus to the vet in order to get that checked, a sample might be needed in order to confirm the diagnosis and then treatment can be started.

Hello, sorry to hear about your cat. It looks like it may have a sinus infection or nasal and sinus infection that's creating an abscess. Common infections in that area are associated with fungal (Cryptococcus neoformans or Aspergillus) or bacterial. Cancer can also cause this in older cats. A sample of his nose, bloodwork, and urine sampling would aid to differentiate between these diseases. I would recommend consulting with your primary care veterinarian about further diagnosing your cat. Hope this helps and best of luck.

What could it be, could it heal by itself?
Hello, while it is difficult to say definitively what is happening to Shir's nose, I would guess that this is some sort of bacterial infection. He is too young for something more serious like cancer, but I would have your veterinarian check things out at your earliest convenience so the proper treatment can be initiated. Why does my cats nose look like this? It is normally completely white.
Poor kitty. It looks like it is most likely swollen and inflammed. This can be caused by some kind of trauma to the nose or even a mass growing underneath the skin. I would highly recommend getting Luna to your vet to get this area looked at in person. The vet will also feel the area to check for swelling, pain, or fluid under the skin, then go from there. Can i attach an image of our cats nose? It seems to be healing, but we have no clue what it is.
Poor, Tommy. His nose looks very painful! There can be many potential causes for this, including fungal infection, bacterial infection, mites, contact allergy, autoimmune disease, or cancer. I recommend that he see a vet as soon as possible. The vet may recommend diagnostics like cytology to look at cells under the microscope, or cultures to figure out what could be growing there. Medications may be prescribed, like antibiotics, anti-fungals, or ant-inflammatories.

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Masha. Poor girl. She may have injured herself, and then she keeps licking her nose, making the area worse. It may now be infected. I'd take her into a vet this weekend, she may need antibiotics. I hope this helps!

Hello. Did they send any medications home with you? My concerns, just based on your pictures, is that this is either cancer or a fungal infection. It just does not look like your normal, routine infection. It may be necessary to return to the vet & have some additional diagnostics done, such as a fungal culture & biopsy of some of the tissue. George is a relatively young kitty for cancer, but it can happen. I hope all is well soon. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

My cat has started to develop a sore on his nose. I just noticed it last night and it got worse with time
Hello. I am always concerned about an ulcerated nasal planum in a relatively young cat. This could be bacterial, autoimmune, fungal, or cancer ( less likely due to his relatively young age ). You really need to see your veterinarian for a minimum of a culture & to start antibiotics. If the antibiotics do not seem to be helping, than a biopsy will be necessary. Hopefully, he just picked up an odd infection & he will be back to his beautiful self soon. Thanks for contacting Boop by Petco.

My cat have some inflammation on he's nose and I see some scab probably I need contact my vet but I need make sure what's going on with my friend.
Thank you for the pictures, they are very helpful. Poor Vivaldi, this could be a skin infection causing the inflammation and he may have a scab there from rubbing his nose on things. You are right, you do need to contact your vet to make him an appointment to get this diagnosed and treated. You can give his vet a call in the morning. I hope this helps!

My 11.5 yr old cat has had bleeding from her right nostril on & off all winter. We first thought the air was too dry. She has always sneezed/hacked frequently. Recently I noticed a puffiness or a lump noticeable diagonally below her right eye/nose ch
I mostly worry about infection and tumors as the cause of the swelling and bleeding. There is a common fungal infection known as cryptococosis that can cause this, which is treatable, but requires long- term therapy. There are also other fungal and bacterial infections that can cause this. Tumors can also be treated with varying success depending on the type of tumor present. It's important to get Spike to a vet sometime soon to exam her and diagnose the specific problem. These types of diseases are often life-threatening and are more treatable earlier in the course of the disease. I hope that helps and Spike gets better soon.
