My dog threw up food and is shaking. Is the marrow bone the cause?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 13 lbs

my dog threw up her food (no liquid just food) and has been having intermittent shakes. she had nothing out of the normal other than a primal bone, sweet potato and her normal dog food. She had the primal bone earlier today (frozen marrow bone) maybe 8 hours or more ago. She went on walk and was normal, ate a treat, and is back and acting off, still having shakes.

The bone could be causing Joey some problems. Bones can get caught in the GI tract causing an obstruction. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Withhold food tonight, then in the morning feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. It could be that the bone has upset Bullseye's stomach leading him to vomit. I never recommend giving bones to dogs because of the risk of broken teeth and intestinal obstruction. I agree it's likely the bone causing Lola to vomit. Dogs should never been given cooked bones because they easily break in the GI tract, leading to perforation and obstruction of the GI tract. Because she vomited the bone up, I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Shooter has probably developed gastritis from eating the bone. I would recommend withholding food (water is ok as long as he’s not vomiting it all up) for 12-24 hours. After that you can try feeding him something that will be easily digestible and easy on his GI tract like plain boiled chicken and rice. If the vomiting continues for more than 24 hours and/or if he starts having diarrhea then I would take him in to the vet to be examined. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. My 2.5 year old chiuaua / jack Russell mix has thrown up 4 times today with mucus/bloody diarrhea. Could him eating cooked steak and pork bones be causing this?
Yes, either or both may cause gastrointestinal upset or, more seriously, pancreatitis. If he is behaving normally otherwise, you can try withholding all food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Begin with 1 tablespoon every hour and gradually increase the amount if there is no vomiting. Feed bland until the stool is normal then transition slowly to his regular diet. If symptoms do not resolve or if Emmitt develops lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain, have him examined right away by your veterinarian. A simple blood test can be done in the clinic to screen for pancreatitis.

Withhold food for 12 hours then offer Luna boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues vomiting or is not eating, take her to the vet to get treatment.

My dog after eating today began to vomit white dense foam. I gave it proto bismal but it got votmited afret a fue minutes. This happened around 6pm now 9pm she is producing saliva and slightly shaking. She is gloomy and resting beside me.

Hi my girl ELLA has been throwing up since last night. I gave her a bone. She vomited most of it up. Now she is shivering slightly.
Poor girl. I would highly recommend taking Ella to your local vet if she has vomited more than 2 times and is acting as ill as you say. Even if she vomited up most of the bone it could have still caused some irritation to her GI tract. Her shivering is likely due to her being in pain/discomfort. The vet can give her injectable medication that won't be thrown back up to help her comfort and also stop the vomiting. I would not recommend any over the counter human pain medication for your pet because it will likely make things worse. I do hope that your pet EllaMae is able to make a full and speedy recovery.
