You can give Koda some canned pumpkin puree. I would give him a tablespoon with each of his meals. Make sure he is drinking plenty of water, and take him for an extra long walk. Exercise can help stimulate pooping. If these methods do not help, I'd have him seen by his vet to get medication. Best of luck.

I would definitely not add salt as this can cause him to have salt poisoning and subsequent neurological problems. I would suggest adding 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) to his food daily which will add fiber and hopefully allow him to go #2 a bit easier. If he is still having issues then I would have his prostate examined to check if it is enlarged and possible the underlying problem as to why he can't go easily. An enlarged prostate will push up on the colon, making the hole narrower so that poop can't easily pass through. The cure for this is to have him on a laxative through your vet and ultimately getting him neutered can resolve this issue for good. I hope everything works out for your pet Kitty. Take care.

Hey, my dog has been having some constipation we are bringing him to the vet tomorrow is there anything that we can do to comfort him until then?
I would try giving him 1/2 tablespoon of canned 100% pumpkin for some added fiber. Also make sure he is drinking plenty of water. I would not give him any human pain meds as these are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps and the vet will be able to prescribe additional meds for constipation if needed.

Toby cant poop he only poops a little and he wants to poop more but he cant what can i give him?
Offer a bland diet (plain white rice and boiled boneless /skinless chicken breasts) in small, frequent amounts. Add 1 teaspoon of plain canned pumpkin (NOT pie filling) per 10 pounds body weight to the meals once or twice daily. Keep water available at all times. It can be mixed in equal parts with unflavored PediaLyte. Monitor for lethargy, decreased appetite, vomiting or abdominal pain. See your veterinarian if any of these symptoms develop or if he does not begin defecating more in the next 24 hours on a bland diet.

We are on in a different environment and our dog does not want to poop. He is still eating and drinking water but has not done his business on his normal schedule. What can we do? Can we add anything to his food? Thanks for any tips
Go and take him for lots of long walks, this will often help a dog relieve himself. Since he has not done his business on a normal schedule, he may have some constipation or hard poop. this can be helped by giving him one or two tablespoonfuls of canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) in his food. This shoduld help with the feces retaining water and so be soft enough to pass easily. It will also bulk up the feces and hopefully activate the pressure receptors in the rectum and entice him to eliminate.

I am sorry to hear about Lucky! If he is otherwise acting normally (no vomiting, normal appetite, energy normal, no pain) you can try adding a teaspoon of canned pumpkin to his food twice a day, or giving him some cat hairball remedy (such as laxatone). If this doesn't resolve the isssue within 24 hours or he develops any of the symptoms I mentioned before, he will need to see his veterinarian. Poor guy. I am glad that he was able to have a normal bowel movement. Thanks for the update. From here moving forward it is best to add fiber to his diet daily. You can either purchase a Food that has added fiber in it already, such as Royal Canin Gastrointestinal high fiber or the Hill’s Science diet W/D, both prescription brands. Or you can try adding in 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) into his food daily. I hope this helps and best wishes with your pet Maui. Take care.

My dog is 10yrs & is having problem trying to poop won't eat just drinking water, ate a little bit yesterday nothing today. What can I do to help him have a bowel movement?
Constipation can be caused by anal sac impaction, enlarged prostate gland, intestinal parasites, a foreign body, too little fiber in the diet, lack of exercise, or even tumors in the GI tract. I recommend giving him a tablespoon of canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) mixed in with his food to see if that helps. You can mix it in with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice if he is refusing to eat his normal diet. Another option is to give him a teaspoon of mineral oil or olive oil. If he is still constipated in 24-48 hours, he will need to see a vet as he will likely need a laxative or an enema. Your vet can diagnose the cause of the constipation as well.

You can use any of those oils, and I would recommend adding a teaspoon of one of them to Einstein's food. If that doesn't work, then I would have him seen by a vet as he may need a laxative to help him poop.
