My dog hurt his leg. Is it safe to give him more aspirin for pain?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 150 lbs

Hello, when I was away at work I think my dog must’ve fallen and injured his back left leg. He has trouble walking currently, and often cries out when he tries to lay down. I went to PetSmart and got him 300Mg Aspirin and he was able to walk and lay down for a bit afterwards but I believe he’s in more pain now and I’m not sure if I should give him more. His last dosage was at 6:20pm, and he’s approx 150lbs.

No, I would not give Tank any more. Aspirin isn't really safe for dogs, it causes GI ulcers and bleeding. Rest him tonight. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. Take him into the vet first thing in the morning to get this treated, and the vet can give him safe pain medication. Best of luck.

No, that isn't correct. It isn't safe to give dogs aspirin, even baby aspirin. It cause GI ulcers ad bleeding. If Lily can hardly walk on it, she needs to see a vet because she is in a lot of pain. Rest her tonight, and take her into a vet first thing in the morning. If you fear she is extremely painful, take her into an ER vet now. Best of luck.

Do NOT give Bob baby aspirin! Aspirin causes internal bleeding and GI ulcers in dogs, and is not safe to give to him. The best thing to do is rest Bob for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any more human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.

Can I give my dog a baby aspirin 4 hurting leg he's favoring his left rear leg and seems to be in some pain from it. He's whimpering a lot
I always recommend against giving baby aspirin to dogs. It makes it more difficult to give them medication if we need to switch them. If Jack hurt his rear leg I do recommend a physical examination be performed on him at a vet. Dogs can have just a simple soft tissue injury but they can also have issues with their knee cap or even an Cruciate ligament rupture (like an ACL in a football player). Going to the veterinarian they can prescribe good anti-inflammatories that would not be able to be given if you gave the aspirin. They can also dispense good pain medication to help Jack. Until you can get him to a veterinarian I recommend strict rest and only leash walks to go outside to the bathroom and then back inside. My new puppy fell out of my arms and landed on his front right paw i can feel a bump on wrist area but he seems to limp with a walk ok i was told to give him half of a baby aspirin he is only 6 weeks old
Please do not give Oreo baby aspirin, it's not safe for puppies or dogs. It causes GI ulcers and bleeding. The only safe pain mediations for dogs are available from the vet. I would call the vet first thing in the morning to get an appointment for him to be seen. He's limping because he's in pain, and since he is so young, it's very important he's seen by a vet as soon as possible to make sure he doesn't have an injury such as a broken bone that negatively affects his growth. The only way to know for sure he hasn't broken anything is with an x-ray. Please take him into the vet tomorrow.

No i do not recommend that, this is a risky medication to give to your dog, if the pain lasts for more than 3 days i recommend taking him to the vet to get that checked, all safe pain killer medications for dogs are prescription only.

My dog hurt his hind leg running and it’s been bothering him on and off today (a day later). Can I give him Ibuprofen?
It is not recommended to give pets ibuprofen. I recommend instead to call your veterinarian. They may want to see him to make sure his cranial cruciate ligament has not been injured or that a kneecap is out of place. They can also provide pet safe pain medication. Tonight keep him off the leg as much as possible. Gently massage the leg and you can apply a cool, not cold, compress. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Is ibuprofen and aspirin okay for dogs. My labrador tore her ACL 3 years ago and had surgery and now is sore on both back legs
No ibuprofen is not safe to give to your dog. While aspirin had been used for pain relief many years ago now there are safer pain medications specifically for dogs. Aspirin can cause gastric ulcers and intestinal bleeding so I never recommend it. Your veterinarian should examine Hershey as she may have injured the ACL on the other leg. Over 70% of dogs who damage one ACL damage the other one within a few years. Hershey will need rest, no jumping, controlled leash walks and pain medication to get better without surgery. If there is a dog rehabilitation center near you they can give exercises for home care and can provide therapy usually including hydrotherapy. If the ligament is torn completely and the lameness not improving in a few weeks with rest, therapy and medication then Hershey may need surgery on the other knee too. No this is not safe to do at all. The medication isn't prescribed for Buddy and it may not be the correct dose. Plus aspirin is never safe to give dogs, it causes GI bleeding and ulcers. I would get him into his vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.

Please do not give him aspirin! It is not recommended to give it to dogs, as it causes internal bleeding and GI ulcers, and you should stop giving it to him now to prevent this from happening.
