My dog ate roach gel. Should I worry if he ingested a small amount?

My dog ingest about 1/2 tsp of invict roach gel. He is a big Jorkie about 20 pounds.

The good news is that this is not highly toxic. Bear eating 1/2 a tsp of the roach gel will not be enough to cause him any problems, so you do not need to do anything expect to make sure that he doesn't get into any more! I hope this helps!

The roachbait is not toxic to dogs. The only problem dogs have with the bait is the bait box if they swallow it. It could cause an intestinal obstruction or blockage. So, if Gretchen did not eat the baitstation/box, she should be alright. Seems like roach bait smells goooood to dogs, too!

Thanks for providing your dog's weight and the active ingredient in the roach trap in your question - it's very helpful for us! :) The good news is, this is not likely to cause any serious problems at all for Amber. Chlorpyrifos is a common ingredient in roach and ant traps. An average trap like this contains about 2 grams of 0.5% chlorpyrifos bait, or about 10 mg chlorpyrifos total. In a 70 pound dog, this works out to a total dose of about 0.3 mg/kg. Doses of up to 3 mg/kg (which is 10 times as much as Amber ingested) have been shown in studies to cause no significant issues. It's possible that she might have some minor stomach upset, but otherwise I would expect her to be just fine.

Fortunately this poison is not very poisonous for dogs but if he licked it he could suffer from vomiting, lack of appetite or diarrhea for a few days. if the symptoms are quite severe you will have to take him to the vet in order to get it treated.

combat roach traps contain roach poison which is not very toxic to dogs. Usually ingesting the container is more dangerous than the roach poison. However COMBAT suggests calling them in case your dog has ingested some of the poison: "If you’re concerned that your pet may have ingested a small amount of roach bait, Combat can help. In the event that a household pet ingested roach bait, please contact the Combat Information Helpline at 1-800-426-6228 or contact your personal veterinarian." It is likely that the roach poison causes mild stomach irritation at most. Since the bait station was not ate by your dog, there is no worry about intestinal obstruction.

Even if the cockroach had come into contact with some type of insecticide, it's extremely unlikely that there would be enough present to cause any toxicity issues for Bubbles - so as long as he's acting normal, you shouldn't need to worry :)

Being that the packaging states the active ingredient as boric acid he will likely be fine. It doesn't sound like he ingested enough to be toxic however, he could have some gastrointestinal upset for the next few days. I suggest you feed him some bland food for 2-3 days. That being said, we always suggest a vet examine your pet if they have ingested any type of poison. It is difficult for us to say much over the internet without having examined the pet. My cat ate combat max roach killing gel what should i do?
I just checked out the information on the Combat website, and this is what is says: "The active ingredients in Combat products are either fipronil or hydramethylnon. These ingredients are fatal to insects, such as ants and roaches, but have been shown to have a very low toxicity in humans and domestic animals." I would rinse your cats's mouth out with warm water in case there is any gel left in there. I would monitor your cat to be safe. If you see any signs of vomiting, diarrhea, muscles tremors, convulsions, or lethargy, those can be signs of a reaction to the poison, and then I would take him into the vet immediately. There is no specific antidote, but he may need supportive treatment for his symptoms. You would see a reaction to this ingestion within a couple of hours, so if he's still acting normal by tomorrow, he will be fine.

She will likely be just fine. A small amount of raid left on a roach isn't going to cause any serious issues for your pet. At the very least she may have an upset stomach. In which case you can feed her a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days, and then slowly transition her back to her normal diet. If she doesn't seem to be recovering from the stomach upset as expected after 12-24 hrs, then its best to just haver her checked by your vet and given some supportive treatment to help her stomach settle quicker. Otherwise she should recover well and likely vomited up most of the irritant. Best wishes with your pet Leia moving forward. Take care.

The ingestion of this product can result in severe side effects and toxicity. If ingested in high doses, indoxacarb can lead to seizures in cats. However, this medication has a relatively high margin of safety in both dogs and cats. I do not know how many indoxacarb-containing cockroaches would constitute a toxic dose., but it is unlikely that eating an infected cockroach or two will cause significant problems. Obviously try to avoid ingestion of any cockroaches if at all possible. Ideally consider kenneling Fox or sending him to a friend's house while you are treating your home for cockroaches to avoid exposure.
