My dog ate a 5000 IU Vitamin D supplement. Will she be okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

25 pound cocker spaniel ate a 5000 vitamin d supplement. she is 12-14 years old so on science diet cardiac. Is there anything I can give her. It was only a half hour ago but on a Sunday so would involve an emergency visit. I didn’t see her eat it but guessing one fell yesterday when doing my vitamins.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. One vitamin d capsule will not cause any problems to your dog. There is no need to see emergency vet or make her vomit. Please, monitor her at home, there should not be any worrying signs related to the capsule ingestion.
