Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Male | 5 months and 1 day old

A month ago i got a skinny pig and a long haired guinea pig a few days after i got them i noticed the long haired guiena pig had a little crusty stuff around his eye as shown in the second photo, about a week ago my skinny pig started getting white spots around his rump, it's progressing rather quickly he now has a small white spot under his chin and another behind a ear. I spot clean the cage every two days and fully clean once a week. diet is hay, pellets, and vegetables every few days.

Thanks for reaching out about Bat boi and including photos. These lesions both appear to be fungal lesions (ringworm) and a veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. If correct, this fungal infection can be potentially transmitted to humans, so if you or your family develop dermal lesions, you need to see your doctor. Good luck.

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are several possibilities that are causing the hair loss. Allergies, mites, ringworm, or a bacterial infection. Because ringworm has the potential to be a problem to you & your family, it is always best to get these things checked out at your veterinarian as soon as possible.
