My dog has a red eye and a weird spot, but no discomfort. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 5 years and 2 months old

Lucky has had this weird spot in his eye & his eye has been red for a while. It doesn’t look like an eye booger, & although he doesn’t show any signs of discomfort I don’t know what this is. What could it be?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Lucky. Is the spot moveable when he blinks? If so, a small piece of discharge or mucus is likely. You can try flushing his eye with a saline eye rinse and see if it can be removed. If not, it may be a small growth cominging off of his lower eyelid. If the eye is red though, I worry there is some irritation. In this case, he should see his veterinarian for an examination and a more detailed answer. I hope this information helps!
