My Boston Terrier has an eye bump. Is it a stye? What should I do?

My Boston terrier has a small bump on the lower part of his eye. I’m unsure if this is a style or not?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Mahomie and for providing pictures, they are very helpful. This may be a stye. Try applying a warm compress on it for five minutes at a time a couple of times day to see if that helps it drain. If it does not help, it gets bigger, or starts to bother him, then I would have him seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Hello thank you for using Boop by Petco. My best guess is that this is a histiocytoma (benign tumor of the skin) but it could also be a localized allergic reaction or a cyst. Hard to tell just by looking at one photo. She should be fine to wait the two days to see the vet as long as the eyeball itself looks normal. If the eyeball doesn't look normal you need to get her in to see a different vet as soon as possible. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hi! So I just got home and noticed this on my dogs eye. She doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort but it’s very strange because I don’t recall noticing it last night. I was thinking she might’ve scratched herself by accident however there is no blood
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Frankie. That looks like some kind of lump, and it could be it's a stye. I'd try applying a warm compress to it five minutes a day a couple times a day to see if that helps open it up and drain. If this does not help, it gets bigger, starts bleeding or has pus, or it starts to bother her, then I would have her seen by a vet for it. I hope this helps!

Hi there! My new puppy has this bump on her lower eye, i’m not sure if it could be a stye or if it is something more serious. It seems to have gotten a bit larger over the past couple days or so.
Hi there, I'm concerned at the size and redness of the bump, this might be a stye or something that similar that is infected. I'd recommend taking her to her veterinarian when possible this week to have her assessed and treated. She may need eye drops or oral medications if it's a deep infection. I hope that's helpful. This morning I noticed this bump on my puppy's eye lid im thinking its just a bug bite but want to be sure

Take a warm compress, and apply it to the area for five minutes at a time a couple of times a day to see if that helps it drain. If it gets bigger, starts to bother her, doesn't go down in a day or two, or appears infected, have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

My Boston Terrier has been having this bump and rash on her left eye. I can’t tell if it’s getting better or worse. It’s really watery and she is trying to itch it.
Brixton's eye does look irritated - this could be a papule and a sign of infection secondary to allergies or it might be a true skin growth or mass. I'd recommend having your vet examine her in person, particularly since her eye is irritated. You could use an e-collar or cone to prevent her from rubbing until you can see the vet.

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to a trauma or infection. At this stage it is not possible to rule out that a small mass is developing (stye is possible, but a small benign tumor should be considered as well). A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Hello, my puppy Odin recently had this small little ball near his eye. It almost looks like a sty. I attached some photos. Is this something I should be concerned about. Do I let it go away or take him to vet ? He’s acting normal. And I can’t recall
It is possible that Odin has a stye. You can try putting a warm compress on it a couple of times a day for 5-15 minutes to see if that helps with it. If it does, you can clean out the discharge from the stye with saline solution. If this doesn't help, then I would take him into the vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Our Frenchie has a small bump on her right eyelid. It’s been there for a few days and hasn’t gone down. It’s light red, little pink in color. What is this? Should we go get her eye looked at or will it heal on it’s own? Thank you❤️❤️
Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! This could be a stye or infected eyelash or perhaps a very small eyelid mass (these are usually not concerning). Sometimes styes may go away on their own without any treatment. Eyelid masses will likely get larger over time. If it hasn't got down at all in the next few days or seems to be worsening, I would recommend Harley sees her veterinarian for this so they can take a closer look to determine what exactly this is and if it is a cause for concern or not and any appropriate treatment needed (like antibiotics). My 18 mo old mixed boxer has a “pimple like” bump that appeared on her lower eyelid. She is fine with me touching it, it doesn’t seem to bother her. But it has increased in size in the last 2-3 weeks.
The most common reason that we will see white bumps develop on the edge of the eyelid is something called a chalazion. This is similar to a stye, but is not generally inflamed or painful. Sometimes we will use antibiotic eye drops or ointment if the area is red, but they will normally resolve on their own (but this can sometimes take a couple of months). Sometimes using a warm washcloth on the area for a few minutes twice a day can help, but some dogs do not tolerate this well. If the area continues to get larger, appears red or irritated, or does not resolve in a couple of months, I would certainly recommend having your veterinarian examine it. Good luck! Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Based on the photo, the swelling could be from a number of things. This could be from an insect bite / sting, an infection or a cyst. Since this just showed up in the last 24 hours, the likelihood of this being a cyst is small. I would say this is more likely from an insect bite / sting. I would recommend applying a warm compress to the area (warm water washcloth) several times a day and consider giving Benadryl.
