Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | spayed | 13 years and 7 months old
Good Morning, 13 lb. maltese (7 lb.) was seen for blood in urine. vet put her on prednisone. finished regimen and blood started again. took her again on friday, he put her on Baytril and 3 pills of Pred. Last night awoke to her gasping, and gagging, her heart racing. it is sunday a.m. and she is now coughing up blood. not alot but very phlemy with blood traces. she peed at two random places this a.m. (not like her). she is exhausted from labored breathing. :(

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bella. I am sorry to hear about her recent struggles. I recommend she sees an emergency veterinarian today. Coughing up blood is worrisome. She will be examined and will likely need x-rays of her chest as well as blood work. It is important that she is checked for a bleeding disorder since she now has blood coming from more than one body system. Has she been exposed to rat poison at all? D-con, for example, can cause bleeding problems in dogs. I hope you are able to find some answers and get her feeling better. I hope this information helps!
