My dog has red eye mucus. Does she need a vet visit right away?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Koda and for providing a picture, it's very helpful. It appears that she has an eye infection, and yes you should take her into the vet. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take her into the vet in the morning. I hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. The cornea in the left eye looks very abnormal. I suspect this a corneal ulcer but it is hard to be sure without full clinical examination. The right eye does not look as bad but there is also abnormal looking cornea. Please, take Rey to your local vets taking all the necessary precautions against Covid-19. She should be seen by a vet right away.

Mucus in puppy’s eye
Poor Coco. Mucous in the eye is a sign of an eye infection. You will need to take her into the vet first thing in the morning to have this treated. Any eye problem needs to be treated promptly because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I hope this helps.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, uveitis, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. My dog has almost bloodshot eyes and he has some eye boogers around them. What could this possibly be? And would it be something to contact an emergency vet or could I wait until tomorrow to make an appointment?

Does my dog have conjunctivitis? And should I take him to an emergency clinic, or should I wait until tomorrow when normal vet clinics open? He just started having symptoms this morning.
Hello. It does appear that he may have a mild case of conjunctivitis. There is a mild redness visible and light yellow discharge. Since there are no visible lesions on the cornea, no obvious swelling or severe problems, this can be a regular vet visit tomorrow. I don’t see anything that warrants a trip to the emergency clinic. Your veterinarian may prescribe some eye drops to alleviate the symptoms and treat the infection. Thank you for using Boop by Petco

Jax my 4 month kelpie pup has developed a red left eye
Thank you for using Boop by Petco! Red eye can be caused by conjunctivitis, which is an infection of the tissues on the interior of the eyelids. It can also be due to a foreign body, a corneal ulcer, or be an allergic reaction. I recommend having Jax seen by a vet as soon as possible, especially if the condition gets worse, as eye conditions can quickly become emergencies. I hope all is well!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! If the eye is nonpainful (no excessive tears, not blinking it a lot or keeping it closed or rubbing it) you can see how it looks in the morning. If she is doing any of the above get her to a Vet sooner than later. If the eye is still more red than the other eye tomorrow schedule an appointment. It could just be mild irritation or allergies or something more serious (a scratch on cornea, inflammation of the eye, glaucoma though I would except the eye to be painful). My Cocker x Beagle often has a red left eye and his bottom eyelid is dropped more than his right. It doesn't seem to bother him so I'm unsure whether I need to take him to the vet or not. A friend has suggested I use eye drops for glaucoma. Any ideas
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. I do not recommend that you use any medications especially the one for glaucoma before having him evaluated by a veterinarian as all these conditions are treated differently and medications for glaucoma can actually exacerbate other conditions if that is the case. I highly recommend that you have Redd evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

Eye provlem in my dog what to do?
With eye problems I recommend a veterinarian to evaluate them. It could be something simple as an infection, allergies or dust or it can be more like a corneal ulcer. Depending on what is going on with Kulit's eye depends on the treatment. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

My dog has a red eyelid
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Thanks for the picture of Aria it helps. The redness could be from allergies or an allergic reaction. I recommend that you take her to the Vet tomorrow. After their evaluation they will likely prescribe steroids and possibly an antihistamine. If she gets worse have her seen today in emergency. Good luck!
