My dog has nosebleeds after sneezing but seems fine. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 17 lbs

My dog had a nose bleed around dinner time tonight and another just now but he did have a really big sneezing fit this afternoon. Both times the nosebleeds didn’t last very long, minute or two and otherwise he seems fine.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Loki. Poor boy. I'm wondering if he has an upper respiratory infection causing the bleeding, or a foreign body, or a fungal infection. Apply gentle pressure to his nose if it starts bleeding again, or apply a cold compress to his nose to see if that helps. First thing in the morning, I'd have him seen by a vet to have this diagnosed and treated. I hope this helps!

Im so sorry Luna isnt feeling well. Given her age and breed, the most likely culprit is allergies or an upper respiratory infection. The nose can be so inflamed from the aforementioned problems, it can start to bleed. Other unlikely causes are a foreign material stuck in the nose, high blood pressure, or (least likely) a mass in the nose. You should have her seem for the appropriate treatment. Hope this helps!

My Jack Russell, Finnegan has had the sniffles since yesterday and about an hour ago, he sniffled and blood came out. I came up to my room and there was some blood on my bed/blanket.
Poor guy! I"m sorry to hear that. It may be that he just has some significant inflammation of the nasal cavity that resulted in the bleeding. It could be that he has a nasal foreign body (such as a grass seed, etc) up there, or a nasal tumor. Take him in to see your vet. As long as its not continuing to bleed, then its not an emergency, but get him in as soon as you can. Thanks for asking Boop by Petco!

My dog is having a nose bleed out of both nostrils, this is the third time and they take a while to calm down. She also sneezes which makes more come out.
This is very concerning, and Luna could have injured her nose, may have a foreign body in there, a severe upper respiratory infection, a fungal infection, or a growth causing this bleeding. You need to take her into a vet now to have this diagnosed and treated.

I would definitely be concerned about the bloody nose. Since he does frequent the dog park, infections such as bordetella, influenza, or even contagious nasal mites are possible. A nasal foreign body is also possible. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. Antibiotics may be recommended. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Lexus really needs to go see a vet as soon as possible. A long term nose bleed is a medical emergency. My main concerns would be exposure to toxin that might affect his ability to clot his blood. This could be rat poison or another toxin. However a foreign object up his nose, trauma and infection can cause bleeding too. He needs to have blood work to detect if he is clotting his blood and make sure his platelet number is normal. If he will let you apply pressure to his nose and maybe even ice to the bride of the nose to slow the bleeding until you get him into a vet.

I would be concerned about possible damage to the sinus tissue, a platelet disorder leading to her bleeding easier or even something like a bacterial infection causing a vasculitis which is when the blood vessels get leaky. I would recommend Lucy get checked out by her veterinarian so they can make sure she doesn't have any sort of bleeding issue or infection as if either those are present this could get worse.

My dog seems to be bleeding a little bit from her nostril, what could be causing this? *She is on Gabapentin for anxiety, started Trazadone for separation anxiety today. Had diarrhea this morning. Otherwise in good spirits.

My big dog bit my small dog on the nose and he's sneezing blood and I don't think it went through but I'm worried about him and he is huffing and sneezing as if he can't breathe to good and he keeps licking his nose
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I'm sorry to hear Scooby got bit. I would recommend Scooby be seen by his veterinarian as soon as possible. It is possible that the bite wound may be deeper than it appears, it may need stitches, or it may need antibiotics to prevent it from becoming infected. I would have it seen by your regular veterinarian, have them assess the severity, and determine if further treatment is necessary. Good luck!

Treatment for nose bleeding dog
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. Nose bleeds can occur as a result of trauma, significant rhinitis or inflammation of the nose, high blood pressure, rat poison ingestion, a problem with blood clotting, and/or a possible cancerous cause. How to treat it depends on what the underlying cause is. Koeby should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible to determine what the underlying cause is. Dogs can lose a significant amount of blood from their noses and become anemic. There is no at home treatment that is sufficient. I hope this is helpful!

My 1 year old golden retriever had been sneezing for 2 days. I just saw some blood on one nostril and watery discharge on the other. But he is active. Please advice as to what it could be or what I should do to make him feel better right now because
With a dog as young as he, my first guess would be a seed or bit of grass that he has sneezed into his nasal passage. Since he seems to be feeling okay otherwise I don't think he needs anything special done before he gets in to see the vet. If they don't find something else causing his sneezing, they may need to sedate him in order to explore his nasal passages for any sign of a foreign body.
