Why did my dog fall over after trying to throw up? Is it serious?

Bella was acting like she had to throw up then she just fell over on her side. What could this mean? She has never done this before.

Poor Bella. She may have been trying to hard to throw up that she lost strength and simply collapsed. It could mean nothing, just a reaction to trying to vomit. If this keeps happening, then I would have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Dogs can collapse and faint because of vomiting. This is a reflex when vomiting process is stimulating a nerve that slows down the heart rate and dogs may faint as a result of that. The recovery is usually rapid and the dog is back on the feet within seconds. If that what has happened to Aries, you can monitor him at home for the next 15-30 min. If it was only the reflex, he should be back to normal by now. If he is still staggering or looking confused please take him to your local vets as an emergency. Vomiting and balance problem can be related to ear infections, intoxication or even neurological diseases.

Poor Bella! I'm sorry to hear she isn't doing well at the moment. It is concerning that she is making sounds like she has to throw up but cannot. That can be a sign of bloat, which is a medical emergency in dogs. She could also have an obstruction causing her symptoms, or it may be a severe respiratory infection. I think it's best she is seen by a vet immediately to diagnose what is causing her problems so she can be treated.

What does it mean when she is puking non stop all night
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bella. That much vomiting is worrisome in a dog and can be a sign of an intestinal obstruction. If she ate something she shouldn't have such as a piece of a toy, then it could become lodged in her stomach or intestines. This is an emergency. Other cause of profuse vomiting are intestinal infections, pancreatitis or toxin ingestion. She will need to see her veterinarian if the vomiting has continued. I hope this information helps!

I'm wondering if Jax may have had a vasovagal episode after vomiting. This is a reflex that sometimes occurs after vomiting and results in a low heart rate and low blood pressure, and sometimes even collapse. While it is not necessarily a sign of something more serious if the vomiting continues or another episode occurs I would recommend seeing your veterinarian so they can make sure something more serious isn't going on - low blood sugar, ingestion of a toxin, or even liver disease could also cause similar symptoms.

Hello, sorry to hear about Fuzzy. It sounds like she may have had a seizure and may be continuing to have mild forms of seizures. If Fuzzy continues to have these signs, she should be seen by a veterinarian as she may need to have medications and diagnostics to determine why she is suddenly having these events. Other potential causes include having some form of obstruction or GI toxin. Please have Fuzzy seen immediately if she continues to act abnormally. Hope this helps and best of luck.

My dog vomited a few days ago and when I put him outside, he fell onto his back with his paws up, and looked liking he was choking. He was able to stand on his own after a few seconds. I wanted to know what this could mean.
That sounds like it was pretty scary to witness! You are correct that he could have been choking, as he may been trying to vomit some more, fell down, and was prevented from vomiting. Given that Dodger was able to stand on his own after a few seconds, and if he's been fine since, I would consider it a random occurrence and not worry about it too much.

My 8 month old puppy has been throwing up since last night. Just a few minutes ago she threw up and there was a little blood in it.
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bella. She needs to be seen by her veterinarian or an emergency doctor this evening. She is so small that she will easily become dehydrated. The blood in the vomit is concerning. It can be due to the irritation of frequent vomiting or it could indicate a more serious problem such as a stomach ulcer, pancreatitis, a severe infection or a condition known as hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. She may need some diagnostic testing and likely some supportive care such as anti-nausea medication, drugs to protect her stomach from bleeding and fluids to rehydrate her. My dog is struggling to keep her food down. Everytime she eats, she brings it up again straight away and the food is covered with foam.
Bella sounds very sick. I see she is unspayed, and she could have a pyometra causing this vomiting. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. It could also be she has pancreatitis, a severe GI illness, or a foreign body. She sounds very sick, and she needs to see a vet now. Please take her into one immediately. Best of luck.

That's not normal at all, and it seems a bit severe to lose consciousness over indigestion. I supposed if Pisty was vomiting hard enough, it could trigger a vagal response and subsequent loss of consciousness. I'd take her into another vet for a second opinion.

My dog keeps burping and when ahe does sometimes she vomits a little. He burps are rancid smelling and she is conatantly licking her chops like she has something in her mouth.
It sounds as Bella is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.
