My dog's leg has a spreading rash with bumps. What should I do?

My dog has a rash or bumps all over his back right leg and I fear that it might be spreading outward

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Autumn. She could have a rash from an allergic reaction or she could have a skin infection. I would have to see her in person in order to make a diagnosis, so I recommend you take her into the vet. The vet can diagnose what is causing her skin issue and can treat her. I'd try to take her into a vet today. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing her allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). She has a red area on the inside of her leg near her private area. It almost looks like dried blood but it won’t wipe off, maybe a rash?

I took my puppies a bath and realized pickle had noticeable bumps on his skin, he is the only one out of nine that has this, they’re mostly on his face and legs but there are some spread throughout his body

I just noticed this red rash like area on my dog and also a red bump that’s looks similar to a bite mark. Any idea what this looks like? She has vet appointment this Saturday for a check up but is there anything I can do about it until then?
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question. It could be that Harley Moon has an allergic reaction to something outside, could have ringworm, or it could be puppy pyoderma (a skin infection). It's a very good idea to have this seen by a vet this week, and for now, keep an eye on her. If it appears to be itching her, you can can give her an oatmeal bath to see if that helps soothe her skin. I'd also put an Ecollar on her if she starts licking at it. You can make one at home or you can buy one at a pet store. I hope this helps!

Hi, my 10 month old weim/ staffy cross has developed a slightly red bumpy rash on inside of legs can only see it at certain angle she is otherwise fine. She has been jumping in mud the last few days.
A picture of the rashes would be essential to give you a specific advice as depending how severe the rashes are and what they look like there are several differentials, including cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy. Generally speaking I can say that this is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). Hope this an

My six year old dog has some sort of rash. It started on her inner leg and now has spread. Wondering what it is and what I can do to fix it.
Poor Yo! This could be a local infection or an allergic reaction reaction or a mixture of both. You can try Benadryl twice a day and neosporin on the area twice a day. Make sure she doesn’t lick it. You can put a cone collar on her if needed to prevent this. See link below for Benadryl dosing. If it doesn’t start to improve or worsens then I would have your vet take a look at it. My dog is swollen and has been getting these bumps all over her leg.
Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. This looks like furunculosis which is a deep bacterial infection of the skin. It will not resolve without a long course of oral antibiotics. Now, that being said, this could be a primary issue or a secondary issue - I cannot tell you without examining her myself and doing some testing. My dog has a big bump on her inner leg area. She's had it for about a week or two. It was small at first, but it seems to have gotten bigger. It wasnt red at first , now its red and it hard. What can it be and can it be treated at home?? Please help.
Hi there! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is likely a focal area of dermatitis. This is likely to resolve on its own as long as you prevent any further self-trauma (preventing her from licking at it for example). You can get an e-collar from your local pet store or simply just keep a very close eye on her to prevent further self-trauma. In most cases of mild infections, if this is done at home, they can resolve as long as you keep that area clean. If no improvement of worsening is noted in the next 3-4 days, then have her examined by your veterinarian. However, there is a good chance she can do well at home. She is adorable! Have a good night!
