My dog's surgery incision is red after moving. How to find a new vet?

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 3 months old

Blu had surgery just before we moved, 8hrs away... and the incision looks quite red now that we’re in our new home just a few days later.. No Vet near me will see her due to the operation being done somewhere else. She’s scheduled to remove stitches in 10 days, I’m worried she won’t get proper care unless I return to the original vet 8hrs away... But if there are no other options I will go. Any advice on caring for this and going about this situation?! TIA

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Blue. The incision does look a little red, but it doesn't appear infected to me in the pictures. I'm surprised no vet will see her even though she had her operation elsewhere. You moved, you need a new vet, so you would think someone would take you on as a new client. I would call around to find a vet to get her checked out to be safe. But I don't think it's an emergency. I hope this helps!

Just noticed the end of her incision has started to scab and it’s a little red, should we get it checked or just let it heal on it’s own? The stitch on that area has been removed already a few days ago. She doesn’t bother it either.
Hello, and thanks for using Boop by Petco. It looks like that one focal area at the end of her spay incision is red, inflamed, and getting crusty. I definitely recommend having your vet take another look to make sure it's not getting infected, especially since that one spot looks dramatically different from the rest of the incision line (which appears to be healing nicely). hi so my dog teddy has been fixed for about a week and the wound seems to be darker and possibly more red than it was. i just wanted to know if this is something i should be seriously concerned about or wait till Tuesday when most vets open. the pict
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Teddy. From the picture you provided, the incision looks good, but if it has become darker and redder, than I would be concerned about it and have him seen by a vet today to be safe. I hope this helps!

Lina had a spay/gastropexy one week ago. The incision today looks more red/scabby. Just making sure this is normal. The photos are in order of earliest to present

If the incision looks more red and scabby, that suggests infection. I would have her seen by a vet first thing in the morning to get it checked out to be safe. I hope this helps!

Does my cat need to be seen at the vet again? I think ahe may have an infected incision from her spay. In the photo, on the bigger and darker spot, I can see what looks like blood/tissue when she moves a lot. It’s like a dried blood scab that moves.
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Coconut and for providing a picture, it's very helpful. In the picture, I don't see any signs of infection, which would include severe redness, swelling, and pus from the incision. The incision looks closed in the picture, and I do see some scabs, which can be normal. There can be some discharge from the incision if the cat is moving too much after surgery, or if she was licking at it, which can happen when she isn't wearing a cone. At this point in time, I do not think she needs to see the vet. Keep the cone on her at all times, and keep her quiet. If the incision is opening up, you see the signs of infection that I mentioned above, and/or she is lethargic or suffering from a loss of appetite, then she will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Ottoom. I see what you mean, it does look a little red. The healing process should have been over after 14 days post surgery. This is now part of the healing process, this is a new issue. It could be a skin infection or she may have irritated the area by licking it. You need to have her seen by a vet, and I'd take her into one on Monday. I hope this helps!

My dog got done a week ago should it look like this
It's difficult to tell from just a picture. The skin is definitely discolored, but this could be from the surgical prep (iodine), or from dried blood. If the skin is not stained, then this would be abnormal and would indicate bruising or an infection. You can test for stained skin by gently wiping the skin with a little hydrogen peroxide. Avoid wiping the incision (the middle) and just wipe the edges. If it's staining, then the redness will start to be lifted with just a couple of wipes. If the wiping is unsuccessful at removing the discoloration, then it's likely bruising or infection and I'd recommend he get checked by the vet in the next 24 hours. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Redness can develop around an incision a few days after surgery and be normal as long as there isn’t pain or discharge. If you can post a picture we can get a better idea. I hope this helps!

I cant tell if her insicion is infected
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! At least based on these pictures, it does not look infected. If you are concerned at any point about an infection due to signs such as bleeding, discharge or foul odor, have her evaluated by a veterinarian then. Otherwise, she will be fine. Have a good night!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! The only thing I can't tell from the picture is if the skin is together at the red area. If it is then I think it is fine. The red area appears to be a scab or dried blood that will likely heal. Just be sure she isn't licking the incision (use an E-collar or T-shirt) and that you are keeping her exercise restricted (no running, jumping, stairs and leash walks outside only). Good luck!

I definitely see how it's redder. I don't think it's infected, so I would keep an eye on him for now. Rest him more, and if it gets redder, warm to the touch, swollen, or you see pus, then take him into the vet. I hope this helps!
