Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Dia. These may be from an injury. I would gently clean the wounds with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and she will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. If the wound is small and the bleeding is a small amount, I would make sure that you keep the area clean with saline or a betadine / water solution (mixed together so that you have a light brown solution) and monitor for signs of infection (swelling, redness or pus). If the area worsens I would recommend getting her to a veterinarian if possible for further treatment. I hope this helps! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! A small skin abrasion or hot spot like you are describing may require topical antibiotics to heal. If it does not resolve or worsens, I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian. In the meantime, I would keep it clean and if you have grooming clippers try to carefully shave the fur in that area to allow it to heal (do not use scissors!). Good luck!

I saw this on my dogs leg a week ago and it just got redder should I be worried.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is probably just a small wound and is of no major concern. You can apply a thin film of triple antibiotic for about 3-5 days to help prevent it from getting infected. If no improvement by then, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Best of luck!

Hello, & thank you for using Boop by Petco. It could be a bit of acne going on, but it could also be a staph infection from Alice putting her nose wherever dogs go. You could put a spot of triple antibiotic or Neosporin on the areas. If she licks it off, no harm. Do this at leas twice a day for a few days. If it does not seem to be healing, seems to be spreading, or continues to bleed, please have you veterinarian take a look. Take care.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Aller

Dog fight - puncture wounds to the nose and lower lip
Hello, and thank you for using Boop by Petco. Poor Gracie! It’s tough to be certain of the severity of her wounds without examining myself, but fortunately those wounds don’t appear to be too serious from the photos. I think it’s unlikely that she’ll need stitches. However, bite wounds tend to get infected, so I would bring Gracie in to your vet when they open tomorrow, as they’ll likely want to start her on antibiotics. In the meantime, keep those wounds clean by gently washing them with warm soapy water (Dawn dish soap works well). I hope this helps and she feels better!

My dog ha this on the side of he's face it was bleeding I'm not sure how he done it or what it is please help I've cleaned it with warm water and cotton wool should i take him to the vets
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Based on the pictures it appears that Rocco may have either an open wound or a growth of some kind that has started oozing. I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine if he needs stitches, etc based on what the underlying cause for his lesion is and to start any treatment (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory) that may be needed. Thank you for using Boop by Petco. Keep the wound clean and dry. You can use just a damp cloth to clean the wound if needed. I would not recommend using any appointments or peroxide is that can cause worsening irritation. It will probably heal up just fine, but if you notice any swelling or discharge I recommend that does it to rule out infection or need for antibiotics.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! it is not possible for us to diagnose exactly what is going on just based on this description though this may be due to an abscess or infection for example in which case antibiotics would be indicated. This may also be a traumatic injury. I would highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to diagnose it so that therapy can be started. Best of luck!
