My dog has a strange fleshy, white sore on his neck. What to do?

Recently noticed a strange sore on my dogs lower neck. There’s a small amount of blood crusted in the fur but the sore now is looks very fleshy and white

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Taz. Poor boy. I would gently clean the sore with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the sore clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

What is this sore and how can it be treated
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This may be a growth or it may be just an infection with severe inflammation. Regardless, it is infected and needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to get him on antibiotics and would be able to clean it well to avoid further issues. Best of luck!

Found a sore on my dogs neck not sure if it's in to heal on it's own or if I need to take him to a vet
That heavy discharge generally indicates infection. Your pup will heal the fastest if he goes in to see his doctor. The doctor may give him a systemic antibiotic or may only give him topicals if the lesion is very small. Sometimes these pets can be itchy as well and will get medication for that too. You definitely want to make sure that he cannot itch or lick at that area as it will make it worse. The doctor will also shave the hair as it needs to be exposed to the air to dry up. My dog has an oozing sore on the back of her neck. I don't see any redness but it may just be because her hair is longer. She is a pit/lab mix. She is acting normal, though. How do I clean it and should I be worried?
Poor Stella! I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep her from scratching at it, you can put an Ecollar on her. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and she will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

My dog is getting round small circle spot the hair is gone and it's pussing and oozing what do I do it's red and leaking fluid

I recommend you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as this will likely require local therapy with cleaning of the site, pain control medications and antibiotics. Also, your veterinarian could check for a possible underlying cause like allergies, mites or a foreign body reaction. Good luck!

I've just noticed this on my dogs neck, it's as if it has just appeared out of nowhere, he hasn't been bitten by another dog etc, does this need immediate get attention? Thanks
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jack. He will need to see his veterinarian this week. The wound will likely be cleaned and the surrounding hair shaved to further evaluate it. Regardless of the cause, he will likely require antibiotics. In the meantime prevent him from scratching the area. You may check his ears as well. Some dogs with ear infections will cause self trauma from scratching itchy ears. Check for any redness or debris in the ears. I hope this information helps!

Ouch! That sore does look pretty large, and if you suspect it was food-allergy related, switching back to his other food (or a different bag) is a good idea. I would continue to keep it as clean and dry as possible, and if it's not healing, or has already been there several days, bring Bear into your vet. Your vet can carefully trim the hair in the area to see how large the sore is, thoroughly clean it, and provide you with antibiotics and pain meds as needed to help the area heal and Bear feel more comfortable. In the meantime, keeping the area clean and dry, keeping Bear from rubbing or pawing at it with an E-collar or T-shirt, and keeping the site monitored is best.

My dog has sores on head and neck under his chin. I thought they were from playing with our kittens but today they look bigger and bleeding slightly.
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco. If the sores are getting bigger I would recommend having Gotti seem by a veterinarian. It appears that he may have a skin infection. Keep the lesions clean and dry until then, but he may need some antibiotics. You can use a mild antiseptic shampoo to clean the lesions but be sure to rinse well.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Given his age, the most likely problem is something such as an infection from a penetrating foreign body. There could be something still stuck below his skin if this is the case. Other possibilities include a bot fly larva or even a tumor of some kind. I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian as soon as you can to have it checked and addressed. Hope this helps!

What is going on? Open sore with wet pus constantly. Occasionally bleeds, scratched always aswell as licked. About two months going, worst it has been. Home remedies?, Homipath and holistic believers.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This could be just an infection though I am suspicious that there is a growth underneath causing this. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. This is severe and no home remedies are expected to improve this. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good night!

I can't get ahold of my vet... but my dog started with a perfect circular patch of dry skin on his snout just before his nose. A day or two later, it blew up and looked horrible. I've been cleaning it and it has scanned over but it's still a huge bum
I don't like the look of this. With it so round and well demarcated I would guess it's from a spider or insect bite. You can clean this with a warm cloth and a mild shampoo or soap. Rinse it well and when it's dry apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. I would have this examined in the next few days as it could be a fungal infection from rooting in the ground also. If there is any question as to the cause your veterinarian can do a skin scraping of it and get a diagnosis after looking at the cells under the microscope.
