My large dog ate a cat toy. What are the risks and what to watch for?

My dog ate my cat’s toy im concerned and I have attached a picture of my dog and an estimate of the toys size (that toy is not the one he ate, he ate and swallowed a different one) thats just for reference.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about ACe. He's a big dog and that size toy may pass without problem. I'd just keep an eye on him for now. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or a loss of appetite, have him seen by a vet right away. I hope this helps!

However, it is important to watch closely for clinical signs consistent with an intestinal obstruction such as vomiting, abdominal pain and decreased appetite. My chocolate lab ate small pieces of rubber from one of his toys. He seems fine and hasn't vommitted. Should I take him to see a vet or can I just monitor him for now?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! If they were small pieces they may pass. However, if they were large pieces, he could become obstructed. If this just happened, you can have him evaluated by a veterinarian who can induce vomiting to retrieve those pieces. Otherwise, you can monitor him closely for signs of an obstruction such as vomiting, inappetence and/or abdominal pain. If these are observed, I recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!

I have a 3month old GSP. He just swallowed the foot to his toy stuffed duck. It was about the size of a half dollar coin. Do I need to induce vomiting, or wait and see if it passes?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It will likely pass because it is soft and small. I would not recommend making him vomit. You should see it in his feces in the next 24-48 hours. If he starts vomiting, having diarrhea, or acing lethargic, I would have him seen by a vet. In the meantime, I would throw away the toy and I would not give him another stuffed toy until he learns to not destroy it. My dogs never learned that so we just don't have stuffed toys! I recommend Nylabones and Kong toys for chewing. Good luck and kisses to Bennett!

My puppy ate a small (size of my pinky nail) piece of rubber from a toy yesterday. She is showing no symptoms, not vomiting, has eaten and gone to the bathroom and full of energy. How long after ingesting will I know if it will cause an issue
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Shea. Thankfully she is a large breed puppy. Hopefully the piece of toy will pass in her stool. Monitor her bowel movements for the next few days. If she stops eating, starts vomiting or acts sick, then you need to seek emergency veterinary care. This can be a sign of an intestinal obstruction. I hope this information helps!

Mia ate one of my roommates cat's plastic toys last night and tore it into little pieces. This morning she threw it up with some foamy throw up. She went poop twice this morning also. She ate her breakfast also but I wasn't sure if I should still tak
Generally, the plastic of cat toys is fairly thin and flexible, but if it is hard with sharp edges, it is certainly possible that it can cause problems similar to a bone. If Mia vomited the toy, hopefully this will not be an issue. If Mia continues to vomit, does not eat, does not seem to feel well or is straining to defecate, I would certainly have your veterinarian examine her. Good luck! My cat ate a bell from his toy will it pass???
Unfortunately, we cannot say if the bell will pass or not. I wouldn’t make him vomit as it can actually hurt his esophagus coming back up. I would recommend monitoring the cat and if you notice any vomiting or diarrhea or if he becomes lethargic at all I would recommend bringing him into your regular veterinarian for x-rays. You can always bring them into the veterinarian to have them do an x-ray to see if the bell is actually in his stomach since they should show up on the x-ray. Then you can see if he actually swallowed it or not. Unfortunately, this may result in surgery. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

my 10 month old beagle weighing 25 pounds ate this piece of soft toy and im wandering if it will pass or should i take her to the er vet tonight, im concerned about about obstruction or laceration because of the length of cause it isnt very wide at a
Keep an eye on her for any adverse symptoms but as long as she is behaving normally, I don't think she needs to see the vet right now. I'm having trouble getting the photos to enlarge for me, but what I can see of the toy makes me think that she should be able to pass a piece with too much trouble.

My cat ate a toy. One of the dangling toys on the end of a stick. I attached a photo of what is left of the toy. He is not acting strange and ate his food this morning. Any suggestions on what I should do?
Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach to address your concern. If Chester is acting normal and there is no vomiting, abdominal pain, lethargy or inappetance then I would monitor for now. If you do start to notice any of these changes, I would get Chester in to see a veterinarian to have an examination and abdominal x-rays or abdominal ultrasound to see if there is an intestinal obstruction due to the ingested toy. My dog ate a small rubber gem(toy) she's a smaller dog chihuahua mix not sure with what I bv think like terrier or something. The gem is about as big around as a quarter and like 1/4 inch thick maybe. What should I do?
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. If Rigby ate the gem within the last 2-3 hours, I recommend trying to induce vomiting by giving 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide by mouth. You can use a turkey baster to give it orally. If this doesn't make Rigby vomit within 15 minutes, you can repeat this once. If this doesn't work, you can bring Rigby to a veterinarian to have them induce vomiting. Otherwise, you can monitor Rigby for the development of any GI signs such as vomiting or decreased appetite. I would be worried about the possibility of the gem/toy causing a blockage of the intestines. This is a surgical emergency. I recommend also monitoring Rigby's stools for passage of the toy. My dog ate a part of her plastic toy. There was no loose squeaker so just the missing plastic as seen in photo. Assuming it was chewed up and swallowed in small pieces, is it ok to wait and see if she passes it in her stool?
As long as the pieces ingested are small, they will likely pass in the next 24 hours. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or straining to defecate. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.
