My 11-week puppy has a stomach rash. Is it impetigo or pyoderma?

My dog currently has a very mild case of a rash on her stomach. She is an 11 week old puppy I have thoughts that might be impetigo.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about your puppy. It's likely puppy pyoderma, which is a skin infection. Puppies have very sensitive skin, and can be prone to infections. I'd have her seen by a vet in the morning to have this treated. Best of luck.

This is called puppy pyoderma. It’s a mild skin infection that puppies often get. You can bathe the area with anti bacterial shampoo every few days and that should clear it up. If it is getting worse or the puppies seem sick then bring them in for a exam and treatment. They may need oral antibiotics. Also make sure the bedding is soft and dry. Our puppy that we got 3 days ago has a rash on her belly. We think she had it when we got her but we just didn't see it. We are in the process of finding a vet, but are wondering what it may be?
Congrats on your new puppy, but I'm sorry Sasha has a rash! Thank you for the picture, it's very helpful. This could be puppy pyoderma, which is a skin infection. Puppies have very sensitive skin, and they can be prone to bacterial skin infections. Puppy pyoderma is quite common amongst young puppies, is usually not serious, and can easily be treated by your vet. Another cause could be fleas. I can't make a definitive diagnosis without seeing her in person, so it's good you are trying to find her a vet. Finding her a vet is not only good for this problem, but also for getting her vaccine course completed, making sure she is healthy now and in the future, and having there for any potential problems that may arise. Once you find a vet, please make an appointment for her to be seen to get this diagnosed and treated. I hope this helps!

I have a 5 week old puppy. We just moved to our new apartment several days ago and today i noticed these pimple like bumps around her genital area and stomach.one photo is taken on aug 10 from when she didnt have this. should I be concerned?

The skin of the puppy is quite sensitive, and it can be common for them to get this skin infection around the genital area and stomach. This does need to be treated by a vet, she needs antibiotics, so I recommend you make an appointment for her to see her vet this week to get it treated. I hope this helps!

This could be a condition known as puppy pyoderma. It's roughly the equivalent of acne in adolescent humans. It usually clears up as your puppy gets older and there isn't any treatment needed unless it gets really bad. If so, get him in to see your vet and they can prescribe antibiotics and topical treatment as needed. You can bathe him with a mild, oatmeal-based shampoo for dogs and lukewarm water to help clear the rash and soothe his skin.

My puppy has a sore i guess on her stomach. I have a picture if you would like. I’ve cleaned it with soap and water and put some bacetracin on it.
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear about Remy. This looks like a bacterial skin infection, often called staph pyoderma/bacterial dermatitis. I would advise taking Remy to your veterinarian and let them gather a history and perform an examination. Based on their findings, they will probably advise treating this infection. This may involve a medicated shampoo, oral antibiotics, anti-itch medicines, etc. Good luck with Remy. This type of skin infection is NOT contagious to other dogs or people.

Hi, thabks for using Boop by Petco! It could be a pustule (bacterial infection). I don’t think I’d get too worried about one single pustule if he is otherwise fine (not scratching or licking). If he develops more he should see your vet. Puppy pyoderma on the belly isn’t uncommon. Have a good day!

It could be the start of puppy pyoderma (a skin infection), or it could be due to fleas, mites, or allergies. Having her seen by a vet will prevent it from getting worse and allow it to be treated. My puppy is having some weird pimple like bumps onher tummy and I’m getting a little concerned. Is it a normal infection because of flee bites or something or is it something big and I should go see a vet?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This looks like a focal infection. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!

It could be Pretty Marie has puppy pyoderma, which can be common in puppies due to their sensitive skin. I would take her into the vet. The vet can confirm she has it, and can treat her. Best of luck.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I’m sorry to hear Lexi is having skin issues. Based on the pictures you provided, it does look like she may be suffering from a skin infection, or a puppy pyoderma. This can be secondary to allergies or another underlying cause. I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian to have her skin examined, determine the underlying cause for her skin lesions, and start any treatment (antibiotics, antihistamine) that she may need to resolve it.
