My dog got double carprofen dose. Does she need charcoal for overdose?

We accidentally gave my dog her 50 mg dose of carprofen 2x within a couple hours a total of 100mg and she weighs roughly 55lbs pitbull mix do we need to get her charcoal? All of the vets near us are closed

The typical dose of Carprofen is 2mg/lb once daily, so you did not overdose her, but gave her the full days dose in a few hours. You do not need to give her charcoal, just wait 24 hours after the last dose, then start giving it again as instructed. I hope this helps!

Hi there, and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Fortunately, in my experience, it's very uncommon for a single extra dose of carprofen to cause any significant problems. With NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) overdoses in dogs, the two things we're most concerned about are stomach ulcers and possible kidney damage. These usually occur with doses above 20 mg/kg, which for a 25 pound dog would be about 227 mg. Since Tootsie only got 50 mg total this morning (about 4.4 mg/kg), it's unlikely that you will see any serious issues related to this. To be safe, you should monitor her for the next 24 hours for any signs of a problem, such as vomiting, acting lethargic, or not eating. If you have any concerns, I would recommend taking her to an emergency clinic to be seen.

My 7 lb rat terrier chi mix gets 12.5 mg of Carprofen every 12 hours. She accidentally got another 12.5 mg 3 hours later. She has an enlarged heart and also takes Pimobendin; but doe not have CHF. Will she be ok?
Accidents happen! Fortunately, the carprofen won't impact her heart disease or interact with the pimobendan. However, there is a chance that she could experience some stomach upset with vomiting and/or diarrhea, particularly since this is a pretty big dose for a dog her size. With this kind of dose, the worst case I'd expect to see could be ulceration of the GI tract. Normally, carprofen is prescribed at a dose of 4.4 mg/kg over 24 hours. Today, your dog consumed 7.86 mg/kg. In most cases, we don't see toxicity impacting the kidneys until a dose of 40 mg/kg is ingested. With all of that in mind, your dog should be absolutely fine! In order to be extra cautious, I'd recommend feeding her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days, then gradually mix it in with her normal food over 5-7 days. You can also call your vet to see if they can give a dose for an antacid, like Pepcid. (It's illegal for me to do so without having examined your dog.) If you see any vom

If you are sure that only Bella got into the Carprofen, she should be ok. The amount she took is right around the recommended dose for a dog her size, and it's not a massive overdose. If you think the puppy did get them, you need to take the puppy into a vet right away. I hope this helps!

Leave out the next dose and Jane should be ok as Carprofen (the active ingredient of Rovera) can be given in a double dose once daily or one dose every 12 hours. Watch her poop for the next teo or three days, if it is black, stop the Rovera and consult your veterinarian. Should Jane get lethargic, start to vomit or get diarrhea, you should also take her to your vet for an exam and blood work.

I rescued a dog that came with Carprofen(2×per day) and Rimadyl(3x per day). Can I give them to her together and which one is better before bed ?
Carprofen and Rimadyl are the SAME medication, she should not be taking both as she will overdose. Rimadyl should be given once or twice a day, not 3 times a day. i strongly recommend taking her to a vet ASAP in order to get her on the proper dosage before you make he serious health damage.

What do if my dog ate a 75mg Carprofen pill
Dosage of Carprofen for a dog his size is about half of that, which means most chances it won't have a huge effect on him if he only had one pill of 75mg but do watch him for signs such as vomiting, lack of appetite and blood in the stools. if you notice any of those- take him to your vet immediately.

Good evening! As both carprofen and deramaxx are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, you are correct that they should not be used consecutively. I would withhold all medications until reaching out to your regular veterinarian or a poison control center (aspca or pet poison control) to discuss if any further treatment needs to be considered. Hades should be fine unless he is extremely sensitive. Monitor him very closely for any signs of GI upset or bleeding and have him examined if this is seen. Make sure to stick with the schedule as directed. I hope this helps.

I would not worry at this point but I suggest you not give her any more Vetprofen until 24 hours after the last dose. If you have some Pepcid (famotidine) 10mg on-hand you can give her one of those daily for the next few days to protect her stomach. If you notice any vomiting or not eating get her to your vet ASAP. You gave him a little over the daily recommended dose for once per day. He should be fine with this, do not give him anymore tonight, and tomorrow wait until 24 hours after you gave him the full pill and then start half twice daily. I hope this helps.
