My dog got double carprofen dose. Does she need charcoal for overdose?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 years and 4 months old | 55 lbs

We accidentally gave my dog her 50 mg dose of carprofen 2x within a couple hours a total of 100mg and she weighs roughly 55lbs pitbull mix do we need to get her charcoal? All of the vets near us are closed

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Spice. The typical dose of Carprofen is 2mg/lb once daily, so you did not overdose her, but gave her the full days dose in a few hours. You do not need to give her charcoal, just wait 24 hours after the last dose, then start giving it again as instructed. I hope this helps!
