Dog bit by mouse, painful swollen throat, can't eat. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 3 years and 3 months old | 10 lbs

My dog get bitten by a mouse near his mouth and he got some wounds like balls near his throat. He is not able to eat anything when he tried he feels pain and start banking. Thanks for the last suggestion.Please suggest some medicines or antibiotics for him because here is two days of holiday till monday no veterinary hospital is open. And the wound ball can be bigger in size and it's very painful for him, please help

I would see if there is an emergency vet you can take Jemmy into immediately. It's very serious he won't eat and is in a lot of pain. Unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give him. Many human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Call around to find a vet on call to see him now. Best of luck.

Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. This is possibly an abscess that has formed as a result of the mouse bite. Please, take Jemmy to your local vets as soon as possible to lance/drain the abscess and start treatment with antibiotics.

I would strongly recommend that you take OJ to a vet. Dog bites are very nasty, and get infected quite easily. They often require oral prescription antibiotics and pain medications. Unfortunately, it is illegal for me to prescribe medications without physically examining OJ, and there aren't OTC pain medications that are safe for dogs. You can help him by getting him to rest, bringing food and water to him, and keeping the wound clean. Just use a warm wet washcloth or gentle water spraying, don't use alcohol or peroxide on the wound.

Poor Viper! I don't recommend giving over the counter pain medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen or Tylenol as these can have serious side effects in animals. It will also limit the type of pain medication that your veterinarian can prescribe and may result in Viper not getting adequate pain control. Unfortunately there is nothing over the counter that can be given to dogs for pain control, so if he is acting very painful, I would recommend taking him to a vet tonight if you can. If you are unable to, I would recommend taking him as soon as you can tomorrow. Most bite wounds will get infected and they almost always need oral antibiotics. The veterinarian will also make sure the wound isn't worse than it looks. Bite wounds can appear small on the surface, but can penetrate deeper than what we see or tear the skin from underlying tissue so that a pocket is created under the skin. Your dog sounds quite sick, and I think he needs a vet immediately. That will be the best chance to save him. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

Poor Oswald! If he is shaking from the pain and not able to eat then you could take him to an emergency clinic for an exam and treatment. He could have a bad tooth that is causing him a lot of pain and may need medications to help relieve the pain. Pain medication would make him a lot more comfortable overnight until his regular appointment tomorrow. You could also call your vet and give him/her an update and see if he/she would just prescribe a pain medication for tonight. Hope he feels better soon!

Rocky is having a hard time swallowing and has a fever. He ate and drank an hour ago about an hour ago he had this fever and a swollen throat all day do I need to take him to an emergency vet or will it be ok to take him tommorow
My concern would be that if he is having a hard time swallowing then it could progress to having a hard time breathing. Should this happen while you are sleeping it could be catastrophic. Dollar is suffering from a severe infection due to the attack and is also most probably very very painful. you must take him to the vet urgently he will need a course of antibiotics and pain killers.

Please get him assessed by your vet as soon as possible, this painful swelling may be from internal bleeding, an abscess and infection from the wound or a ruptured salivary gland. Your vet may wish to drain and test a sample of the fluid before starting medications. Keep him fasting for 12hrs before his appointment as sedation may be required

My dog is in pain and still has 3 days to go before having staples removed what can I give her for pain? she won't eat either
Unfortunately, there are no safe OTC pain relievers for dogs. Many are toxic for dogs and can be fatal if given. I'm not sure what kind of surgery your dog has, perhaps a spay, but she should likely not still be in pain three days before taking out her staples. It's also concerning that she won't eat, which could also be due to pain. This pain and anorexia could be an indication of a post surgical complication. Her symptoms are serious enough that she needs medical treatment now. There will be a vet on call for emergencies in your area. The information to find that vet is found on the clinic's answering machine or website. You can also see if there is an ER veterinary clinic in your area. Please take her into a vet asap.

The pain is an issue but the most important issue at the moment is the infection he has developed, you must take him to the vet ASAP, he will need a course of antibiotics and pain killers (you can't use human pain killers for dogs).
