My dog has a face bump. Should I see a vet now or wait for appointment?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Jax. This bump should get checked out by a vet, but it doesn't look infected or really big. I think it will be fine to wait until his appointment next week. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This looks like it could be a small abscess like lesion or a focal infection. Either way, this is likely to resolve with local treatment if the infection is confirmed. I think it would be ok to wait until next week as long as it starts resolving and healing on its own as sometimes these do resolve again if that is what it is. If this continues to worsen or progresses or it is not healing, it would be indicated to have him seen sooner. Good luck and best wishes!

Hello. It is hard to see, so a hands on examination by your veterinarian is best. But I would guess this is just a benign cyst & you can watch it for a while. If it continues to grow or enlarge, or Simba seems to be digging at it, then do have your vet take a look. But I am not overly concerned about this. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

What is this bump on my dogs neck
Hello. Unfortunately, that looks like a concerning lump, possibly a tumor. I would encourage you to have this evaluated at your earliest convenience. Thanks for visiting Boop by Petco. This appears to be a skin mass. As long as it isn't bothering Chinook, it's ok to wait until Monday to get this area tested through your vet. Best case scenario is that this is a benign tumor that isn't of concern for your pet. Best wishes and take care.

I'm sorry your received Jax in such poor condition, how awful for him! That is terrible they didn't take care of him at all. Given it's current size, you can monitor it at home and bring him into the vet on Monday, but if it starts getting significantly bigger, he stops eating, becomes lethargic, or it appears painful, then I would take him into a vet asap.

What are these bumps on my dog? Should I get him checked?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I can't make out the bump in the 2nd picture very well. In the first picture the bump looks like a benign sebaceous adenoma. Some dogs, poodle and bichon breeds especially, tend to get a lot of them. In the second picture I can't tell if the area is crusty. Sometimes the sebaceous adenomas secrete thick brown discharge or if the bump is a scab from an infection. If the areas grow or spread I would have them looked at by your Vet. Otherwise the next time you have him in for an exam have them take a look. I hope this helps!

What is the sore / blister on the side of his nose?
Thank you for using Boop by Petco and I am sorry that Herb has this bump near his nose. From the picture you have sent the "bump" appears to be a skin growth, though it may also be an insect bite. There are several types off masses that can grow in the skin of dogs such as cysts and lipomas. Some are benign and some are malignant, so careful observation is important, as well as having a vet examine it if you are concerned. Since you only just noticed the bump, I would continue to monitor it for growth, ulceration, changes in texture or color. Measure the mass with a ruler so you can compare its growth in a couple weeks time. Rapidly growing masses are more concerning. In the meantime you can try a cool compress a few times a day, in case the bump is associated wth an insect bite or an infection/ inflammation of the skin. If after two weeks the bump is still present and especially if it has grown, I would advise a trip to the veterinarian for analysis. The vet will Most likely yse a

What could this be? My other dog and him play a lot but this is more of a bump of some sort like a pimple. Doesn’t seem to bother him.
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. This looks like a wart or possibly a keratin cyst. Both of these are benign growths in the skin. I recommend monitoring this bump over the next 1-2 weeks and if it increases in size or starts to bother Roscoe, it should be examined by a veterinarian. Otherwise, if it stays the same or goes away, I would not be concerned. I hope this is helpful!

There is a small bump on my small dogs nose, I don't know how he would get it. Do you know what it is?
I can't tell from the picture. My two best guesses are that it's a tiny injury (like rubbing his nose under a fence or a bug bite) or it's an actual mass. Young dogs like Jack can get a type of benign mass called a histiocytoma that goes away on it's owner after a while. Although it's quite uncommon in such a young dog, they can also get all sorts of skin cancers as well. If the bump is still here next week, I would schedule a appointment with his vet to have it checked out. Good luck!
