My French bulldog has a growing lump on his leg. Should I be worried?

Hello, my 2 year old French bulldog has had a growth on his leg that we first noticed about 7 days ago. In that time it has grown quite a bit, and appears to look like a wart. He does not lick or chew the area, he barely seems to notice it. We aren’t sure if we should be worried or not.

Thank you for contacting Pet/Coach with your question about Tucker. This could be a benign growth but without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. Give his vet a call to make him an appointment. Best of luck.

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. I’m curious to what this lump on my pup could be , I jus notice it today . It does feel hard . But she does bite in the are a lot . should I take her to the vet? Looks like it’s on the top of her back leg bone .
This lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature. Differentials would include skin cysts, infections, benign or more malignant type of tumors. My 5 year old eEnglis Bulldog has a large gross bump on her..it's located on her side not very far from her front leg
This appears to be a tumor or a large cyst. There is no way to discern whether it is malignant or benign via a photo. Your veterinarian can take a small tissue sample from the tumor and send it in to evaluate it. He can also take the whole tumor and send the whole thing in. Best schedule an appointment for an exam soon.

My 11 yo chi terrier has this on his leg, thought was tick but took photo and looks like mole?

My french bulldog has little bumps on her legs and a little around her groin she's been de flead and isnt due for 2 weeks.
Small bumps like this on the skin are usually a sign of a bacterial skin infection called pyoderma - this can occur on its own, or due to an underlying skin problem like allergies or skin mites (mange). You can try bathing her in a chlorhexidine dog shampoo to see if this helps. If not, or if the bumps seems to be spreading or if they become itchy or painful, it would be best to have her examined by a vet. He/she can do a simple test called a skin scrape to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate medication to treat it.

Hi, unfortunately it is impossible to judge a lump just based on its appearance. Big mistakes could be made! I would say just try not to worry too much, Friday is close and a couple of days will not make a difference. There are different kinds of benign lumps that can occur on the skin of dogs too. Your vet will probably want to take fine needle aspirates from it and will come up with a plan to make sure that Cookie is well and that the lump is treated as necessary. Thank you for contacting Pet Coach with your question about Drake! This lump could be from a bug bite, but it could also be a benign tumor of some sorts like a wart, or it could be a cyst. I would keep an eye on this lump for now. As long as it doesn't get bigger over the days leading up to his appointment on the 28th, it doesn't appear to bother him, there are no behavioral or appetite changes during this time, and/or you don't see any redness, warmth to the touch, or pus from the lump, it's fine to wait until he has his vaccine appointment. Should you observe any of the signs that I mentioned above, then I would take him into the vet sooner. Don't let him scratch at it, as that could make it worse. If he does start scratching at it, making it bleed, then it's bothering him and have him seen by a vet sooner. Good luck, I hope this helps!
