My cat's nose is raw, bleeding, and has discharge. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Male | 3 lbs

I have a 6 month old cat and I got home from work yesterday and the bottom part of his nose looked raw and looked like he had scratched it or something. He seems very tired and I haven’t seen him drink any water. But he will eat food. Today his nose looked worse and it looks like the spot had been bleeding and clear discharge was coming from the wound. What should I do? Is there anything I can put on it?

Ouch, poor Noodle. The problem with putting anything on it is that he will just lick it off, and many creams contain ingredients that are not safe for cats to ingest. Given that it's worse, I would take him into a vet now to have this diagnosed and treated.
