My cat got neck caught in blind strings. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My cat got her neck caught the blind strings and strangled herself. I found her right away (she was maybe like that for 30 seconds), and freed her, and she is acting normally. She talks normally, I gave her wet food and she seems to be swallowing normally. Should I just observe her, or take her into the emergency vet?

That is so scary! Given that she is acting normally, is able to eat, and can talk, I'd just keep an eye on her for now. If you see bruising on her neck, difficulty eating or breathing, or any other concerning signs, take her into a vet immediately.
