My dog just ate almonds. Should I be worried or call the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 25 lbs

My 30lb beagle devoured a 10 bag of slivered almonds. Is this worth a trip to the vet or will she be fine. Not sure exactly when it happened. Within the last 3 hours.

While not toxic, almonds are not easily digested and can give your dog an upset stomach and create gastric intestinal distress. I don't think she needs to see a vet but expect that she may have some mild vomiting and/or diarrhea. If she does and the symptoms last longer than 24 hours then she will need to see a vet.
