Poor Flower ! It is a very common emergency, and in most cases due to an unknown cause.. often a virus. Regardless of the primary cause, you should get Flower seen asap as the fluid loss and blood loss can cause hypovolaemic shock.. basically a sudden drop in fluid that causes poor circulation and can have life threatening consequences. This is particularly dangerous in patients that are small like Flower as their reserves are not great and can quickly deteriorate. Hope she gets treatment promptly and gets better soon !

Poor Janice. If she is not lethargic, then she may have a condition called hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE), which is a stress related syndrome causing bloody stool and vomiting. She may be able to wait until morning to be seen if she remains stable. Try fasting her for 12 hrs and then offer her a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice in small portions. Then get her seen first thing in the morning for a proper exam and medications to help her through. IF she does have HGE, then a short course of antibiotics, probiotics and a bland diet can help her bounce back. She will then need to try to remain stress free, or stay on a low fat diet to help keep her from future episodes. I hope this helps and I wish Janice well. I also hope you don't have to go to the means of selling your car to get her the care she needs. Here is a financial resource that I am hoping can help your situation. Best wishes and take care. http://m.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_veterinary_care.html

Poor Bella! It could be she is suffering from hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, a severe GI illness, she may have eaten something toxic or rotten, or could have a foreign body. It's very serious when a dog is both vomiting and having bloody diarrhea, and I wouldn't wait until the morning for her to see a vet. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Princess! Possible causes of vomiting and bloody diarrhea are: viral or bacterial infections, food sensitivity or dietary indiscretion (ate something gross outside), foreign body (something is stuck), pancreatitis, intestinal parasites, toxin ingestion, Hemorrhagic Gastro-enteritis (HGE-the animal can get very dehydrated with this condition and can be caused by any of the above) and metabolic conditions (liver or kidney problems). I recommend that you take Princess to the Vet since it has been 2 days and now she is having bloody diarrhea. Your Vet, after their exam, may want to do blood work and/or X-rays of her belly. They may provide fluids, antacids, antinausea medications, antibiotics for the diarrhea and prescribe a bland diet. If you can not take Princess to the Vet, which is recommended, then fast her for 12-24 hrs then start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20lbs per day. Feed "sip and nibble," small amount of food and water. You can also start a probiotic, I like Purina Fortiflora which you can find online. If Princess continues to vomit while fasted or when feeding is restarted or won't eat at all she needs to see a Vet. I hope this helps and I wish Princess a speedy recovery!
