My dog has a strange wound and blood on her bed. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 3 years and 7 months old | 60 lbs

Hello, I came home from work one day and found this strange sore on my German shepherd cattle dog mix. I also found blood on her bed as you can see here. My followers on Twitter told me it might be a pressure sore. I am wondering what I can do to cure her. In addition I have used hydrogen peroxide to rid her wound from bacteria. Do you guys know what it could be?

That's pretty severe for a pressure sore, and it looks like Stella sleeps on a comfortable bed. Pressure sores usually occur from a dog lying on a hard service. In addition, they don't show up like this all of a sudden, they get worse slowly over time. I'm concerned this could be from an injury. You need to have her seen by a vet in the morning to have this diagnosed and treated.

My has sore on her head that won’t go away
The area in question is difficult to see in the image provided. The sore could be an infection (bacterial, fungal or parasites), trauma or an ulcerated mass. Stella would need to be physically examined by your veterinarian to positively identify the underlying cause. In the meantime, place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent rubbing, pawing or scratching. You can use a diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution to clean the area daily. If there are no signs of improvement within a few days, then have her seen by your veterinarian.

How to treat a pressure sore
Ouch, poor Daisy! That looks very sore and quite large! I would have her seen by a vet for this pressure sore. I would be concerned that it could get infection and the vet can prescribe antibiotics to treat it. The vet can also treat the sore itself, and give you advice on how to reduce it. One important thing to make sure Daisy has a soft place to lie down. Laying down on concrete or hard surfaces all the time will lead to pressure sores, and she needs a blanket or a bed to lie on instead. Have her seen by a vet today or tomorrow.

So came back from a walk, realised she was bleeding from a leasion on her face, dont know why. No dog fights, only walked on grass. Maybe she scrarched it, i didnt see. Mixed .5 a traspoon of water in approx. 300ml of distilled water to imitate salin
Thank you for submitting your question regarding your dog. I recommend that she sees a veterinarian. The hair will need to be shaved to see the extent of the lesion. If she does not have a history of a traumatic wound, she could have an infected tooth. This can create an abscess under the skin that can rupture open. Her veterinarian will examine her and determine the best course of treatment. I hope this information helps!

Based on the location (it appears to be just to the side and just below the anus), an anal gland abscess may have ruptured. I doubt it’s an insect bite, but I can’t rule that out completely. It could also be another type of mass such as a tumor or a foreign body (such as a grass seed) that’s burrowed into the skin and caused an abscess. Regardless, your instincts are correct; this likely needs to be treated with antibiotics. Put an E -collar (cone of shame) on him and make an appointment with your vet ASAP. Hope that’s helpful! there is a blood clot like sore on her neck (huge)
This is a pretty significant wound on Nova. The top layer of her skin is missing and the black tissue (likely muscle) is dying (necrotic). I would recommend that Nova get checked out by a vet ASAP for proper treatment. She likely needs to be sedated to have the dead tissue removed so it will heal without infection.

My dog has had a round crusty hard place on his back for quite a few weeks,it hasn't bothered him,but now I t has opened and is weeping tiny amounts of blood.it looks like a lot of cells joined together, my dog is ten year old staffie cross.
Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Judging from the photis, this appears to have a raised area in the center. This could be a sebaceous cyst that ruptured and is now secondarily infected or has an open wound on it that won't heal. I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at this and have some additional testing performed on it to determine what it could be. With more information on what this could be, the most appropriate treatment can then be started. If you are unable to get to your vet right now, I would recommend using an ointment called zymox topical ointment to apply to the area. If the ointment does not help aftwr 5-7 days or it worsens during that time, I would get kane to the vet for an exam. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Dog is bleeding from this sore. Do I take him to hospital?
It looks like there is an infection under the skin, it could be due to a bruise or some other type of injury. i would indeed recommend taking Oscar to the vet in order to get it treated, he will probably need a course of antibiotics.

Are you able to tell me what this is or what may have caused this?
Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. It is impossible to tell from the picture how this happened, or how deep it is, but what can be determined is that it is a severely infected wound. Possible causes are penetrating traumas (sticks, bites, etc.), some parasites/worms can cause wounds like this, and some tumors can present in abnormal ways, however that is less likely. I strongly recommend that you have Star seen by a vet as soon as possible, as the wound appears deep and is definitely infected. It needs to be cleaned up, explored, and medications provided. Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. The pictures look like there is a small wound there. The wound looks like it might be from where a tick might have burrowed into Oliver's leg. I don't see any little spot to suggest the head is still present. There are many other causes for small wounds like this (other bites, dog fight bites, and self trauma if itchy). I recommend getting an E-collar to prevent any self trauma, and just keep the area clean and dry. Do not apply any creams. If it is looking worse, or has any green/yellow/cream discharge then I would go to a vet for antiobitics, otherwise just monitor. If it is painful you might need to go to the vet for pain management. It should heal by itself in a few days, if not, see your vet. Best of luck with Oliver.

My dog randomly developed a bloody looking wound under her armpit. She was fine all day. The blood isn’t scabbed or actively bleeding. Almost like it’s under the skin. What could this be?
Ouch! That's quite the sore spot. It's possible it was snagged on something, or Shylah was licking/scratching at the spot. Since it's a rather large wound, it'd be a good idea to have your vet take a look so they can clean and clip around it and provide you with any antibiotics or pain meds as needed. Until then, keeping her from licking at it with an Elizabethan (cone) collar, and keeping the area clean and dry may help reduce irritation.
