My dog has white dots in loose stool after deworming. What is it?

Petco Pet Education Center has been very helpful. I am grateful. Kronos stool as at yesterday was solid, and as at this morning (both exactly the same time) was one part solid and one part loose. The loose stool came immediately after the solid stool. My concern is on the loose stool. I can see some white dots/particles/grains, I don't know if it is from improperly digested food or if it is worms or something else. He was just dewormed about 4 days ago (5th Nov 2019).

I'm glad we can help you! Kronos's stool does look a bit loose, and if he was dewormed recently, that could be the cause. The medication will be killing the worms, and that can lead to this problem. I'd keep an eye on it for now.

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Rolo. Even a small amount can be toxic, xylitol is so deadly to pets. You would see signs of toxicity within 15-30 minutes after ingestion, so watch him for this time. If you don't see any signs after this time, he should be fine. I hope this helps!

Hello, we give Drontal to our Cocker Spaniel on Thursday, July 26, he have 11kg and we give 1 tablet. Next days we see something white in his poop, it seems like mucus. I have attached a photo, can be that worms? Should we be warned?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It is hard to know what this is as it could be many things. I think it is likely mucus and nothing to be concerned about. If he is otherwise doing fine, I would just continue to monitor him for now. If at any point he develops diarrhea, inappetence, vomiting or any other concerning symptoms of sickness, have him evaluated by a veterinarian. Good luck and have a great day!

I took my dog out earlier and noticed yellowish dots in her poop. My first thought was tapeworm segments but I gave her dewormer last weekend. I also fed her white rice last night so is it possible it's just undigested rice or do you think it's act
It does look like this could be undigested rice. If you are giving her a broad-spectrum dewormer that kills tapeworms on a regular schedule, then it should be keeping her free of those. If you want to be sure that she is free of parasites or if these spots in her stool continue, I would recommend having a fecal exam done. Some parasites are microscopic and cannot be seen with the naked eye. Thanks for using Boop by Petco!

My puppy just dewormed 6 days ago, now his pooping white goo all over the place. His doesnt eat as well
Poor Bruno! It’s possible it’s related to the deworming but it’s also possible there’s another cause such as a viral infection, dietary indiscretion, parasites or bacteria over growth. Usually a reaction to an oral medication will happen within 24 hours. Since Bruno is young and small, I recommend to have him seen by his veterinarian today if possible. Small breed puppies are susceptible to low blood sugar and this will cause seizures and can be fatal if not treated. If puppies don’t eat, they run the risk of developing low blood sugar. He is not feeling well and that’s why he’s not eating. It’s always best to be safe with these little ones. Offer him cooked chicken breast and plain boiled white rice. Canned puppy food would also be a good option. If he shows any signs of significant lethargy, trouble walking or seizures, smear something sugary like Karo syrup on his gums and get to the vet’s office immediately. Hey i give my dog pro sense roundworm then I look around coming out like water I don't no did I give him to much of it
I am not sure. You didn't mention how much you gave? However, it sounds like your pet may have colitis (inflamed colon) possibly due to the roundworms or even from additional worms that are present. Not all worms are visible by the naked eye, which is why we recommend a fecal exam (looking at the stool under the microscope after allowing any potential eggs to float to the surface using a salt based solution and centrifuge machine). I would recommend taking your pet in to the vet to have his stool examined and then he may need an additional dewormer or a short course of antibiotics (i.e. Metronidazole) +/- probiotics (you can try over the counter Culturelle) to completely resolve the suspected colitis. I gave my dog her 2nd does of dewormer yesterday, tonight she had loose stool and vomited twice. She had no side effects after the first does 3 weeks ago. Should I observe her for another day or bring her into the vet?

As long as she is not lethargic then this is fine to monitor for at least 24 to 48 hours. is it normal for your dogs stool to be a bit loose after taking a deworm pill? charlie doesn’t get along with pills that well (usually ends up throwing up) but his stool was a bit loose (not diarrhea). we also saw this walking around but i’m not sure
That insect is nothing related with the feces. It could be normal having loose stools for 24-48hours after deworming tablet/pill. I would recommend to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.

My dog ate peanut butter with xylitol (I just found out that it's poisonous) the last time was 4 days ago (but I gave him the peanut butter over the course of a few weeks). He's not lethargic/gums are pink/he's been in good spirits/etc.

Good day, Today I gave my dog a dewormer, he started pooping worms, but also he started pooping blood fluids, I can’t tell if it’s blood. Is it normal after deworming? If no, then what is my next step?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! A small amount of blood can be expected not as a result of the deworming per se but more as an effect of the worms that are likely there. If if it just a small amount of possibly blood in the stools, I would continue to monitor him for now. If no improvement is noted within a few days, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Your veterinarian could check if this is truly blood and see if Willow needs any other supportive therapy such as a medications for possible colitis. Good luck and have a great day!

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Worms do cause diarrhea and a very high worm burden (amount) can cause severe disease. However, if the puppy is eating, playing and drinking, and is acting normally, then you can wait until tomorrow. I would just inform the new owners about the worms, and have them bring Dan to the vet right away. The vet will get proper deworming performed, as well as vaccines. Best of luck with them!
