What are any bacterial or fungal infections that turn scales black and bring on yellow patches? How quickly do they spread typically? What does it look like? (Attached is a photo of how the scales on my bearded dragons foot looks like and theres also darker patches on lower leg. This photo isnt mine but it looks similar to my beardie. On the underside of his leg theres slight patches of light yellow. Its only on his one back leg. Ive been watching it for two weeks & it hasnt seem to have spread)

The most common cause is a fungus with a long name: Chrysosporium Anamorph of Nanniziopsis vriesii. It is better known as CANV. It is an aggressive infection with a guarded prognosis. Even with treatment, it can kill within 18 months. You can quickly do an online search for "CANV" or "Yellow Skin Disease" for images, but a diagnosis must come from a veterinarian, preferably one experienced in treating reptiles. A culture or biopsy can be submitted for pathology after an exam. In the meantime, keep Lenny warm and as stress free as possible. Isolate him from other reptiles and wash your hands thoroughly after handling him. If he comes back positive for CANV, treatment is a combination of oral and topical antifungals.
