Can I remove ticks and bathe my dog right after tick spray?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 1 year old

I used tick spray on my dog about 16 hours ago. Now there’s some blood around the ticks but the ticks are still attached to the body. Can I remove the ticks with a tweezer and then give him a bath? Or should I wait for longer for the spray to affect the ticks. I heard that you have to wait 3 days to bathe a dog after being sprayed.

Definitely remove the ticks from Max's body, and make sure you get all parts of the tick. I will put a link below on how to remove ticks from a dog's body. Do not wash him until the spray has been on him for at least 48-72 hours. Best of luck. http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/dogs/tips/getting_ticks_off_dog.html
