My dog ate small, non-black watermelon seeds. Will she be okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 3 months old | 10.6 lbs

I know that black watermelon seeds are not to be infested by my dog, but if she were to eat the smaller ones that are not black will she be okay? During the summer we like to give her watermelon as a treat and I pick out all the seeds but the smaller ones are kind of a pain.

While watermelon seeds are not toxic, ingesting multiple seeds could lead to a potential intestinal obstruction. I would take the extra time to remove the seeds prior to giving Snowball the watermelon.
