My kittens have bad stool. Can they eat adult cat food at 2-3 months?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 13 days old

I have 2 cats: a 3 month old and a 2 month old. Is it all right to feed them adult cat food? I've been feeding them Whiskas in tuna and ocean fish, as well as the dry mix. They look fine and are both playful, but sometimes the stool smells so bad and is not that solid.

Hi there. Since they're so young, it would be better for them to be on a food that is specifically formulated for kittens. Nutritional requirements for growth and development are different than what is required for adults who are already finished growing. Once they are at least 10-12 months old, you can switch them over to adult food.
